Calling all New York City-area Gunpla builders: now's your chance to show off that cool build you've made, as the final event in the U.S. semifinals of the Gunpla Builders World Cup is being held this weekend at New York Comic Con! The annual global competition features builders from the U.S., Japan, China, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Italy, Thailand, Hong Kong, South Korea, Australia and Malaysia fighitng for the title of Gunpla World Cup Champion. Six events (SakuraCon, Anime Central, A-Kon, Anime Expo, Otakon and the now-merged NYCC and New York Anime Festival) serve as semi-finals in the U.S., with Best of Show winners competing to be named the U.S. champion and advance to the world finals.
There will be two categories: Open (ages 15 and up) and Junior (ages 14 and under) with up to 3 entries allowed per person. Along with Best of Show, awards will be given out at NYCC in the categories of Best 1/100-scale, Best 1/144-scale, Best SD, and Best Out of the Box. Enbtries must be in to the Bluefin/Bandai booth (#1810) by Saturday at 2 p.m. Eastern, when judging begins. We'll know the winners by 3:30 p.m. and be bringing you the news about that from the show floor!
