NYCC 2012: Lego - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT)Lego has partnered with Nickelodeon to bring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise into the Lego-verse and, at NYCC 2012, we saw the beginnings of that union. On display at the LEGO booth (#1538) was the first of what I assume will be many play sets. The Shellraiser Street Chase set features the Shellraiser (the Turtles' vehicle), an ice cream truck and includes the five pictured Lego figures: Leonardo, Michelangelo, Dogpound, Foot Soldier, and a Kraang Droid. It has a US$60 MSRP and an expected January release date (?!). While I like the possibilities of a TMNT series, the line seems to be off to a limp start. US$60 seems to be a lot for what the set actually includes and it's more than a little disappointing that Lego didn't at least have all the core characters on display. Still, one can only be excited by the shape of things to come given all the cool merchandise associated with the original line. Sure, it's based on the new cartoon on Nickelodeon, but the Turtles themselves look like they could fit either style. Did you know?
