NYCC 2011: Kotobukiya Bishoujo Liara and other news

NYCC 2011: Kotobukiya Bishoujo Liara and other news photo

You may have seen Andres' post on Friday giving you some quick peeks at Kotobukiya's Bishoujo Liara T'soni from Mass Effect 3 and the final sculpt of their Poison Ivy Bishoujo. Thanks to the fine folks at Koto's booth, we're able to give you additional shots of Liara and Ivy, much to our pleasure and our ledger's dismay.

First up, you can see some of Liara's changes. Her face has remained the same, but there have been some touch-ups on her hair tendrils and the body sculpt as a whole. She really does look a lot better than the leaked shots of her old sculpt, much to many people's delight. She should be in your (and my) hands second quarter 2012. I was also informed that there'll be another couple of Mass Effect Bishoujo figures down the line, so if you have a favorite lady in the sprawling sci-fi RPG series, you'll have a good chance of getting her at some point in the future. Not only that, but if you're a fan of Koto's ArtFX series, they're looking to get a male Shepard out as well. My wallet weeps.

As for Ms. Ivy, the shots taken were purely related to Kristina's interest in the sultry villain. While not colored, what you see here is the final sculpt for Ivy. Combine the sculpt here with the paint job we saw back at SDCC and that's what will be hitting store shelves first quarter 2012. I really dig her jaunty pose and the vines crawling up her leg. Oh those willy tentacles, what will they do next!

Finally, there was a quick announcement about the creation of a Men in Black Bishoujo. Talk about a shock, I don't think anybody saw that one coming! Don't expect to see that one for a while, as it's still in the early stages of development. Anybody worried about less focus on DC/Marvel girls with the MiB and Street Fighter Bishoujo lines shouldn't worry, as there are plenty of ladies that will get their day in PVC.

So what do you guys think? Do you dig Liara's new sculpt? I know that a lot of you guys weren't too hot on the bustier Liara, so does the decreased emphasis on her boobs please you? Also, which of the Mass Effect ladies would you like to see next? Personally, I need me a Tali in my collection, STAT!

The SF bishou are going to be such a train wreck...

Alien babes or what?
I preferred the bustier Liara, but I don't have any real attachment to the character, either way.

Ivy looks good.

I'm a fan of bustier anything, but I think the slimmer Liara looks a bit closer to her model from the game, but that's just me.

Agent XX in a ripped-up and torn suit, probably with some bug juice on her. Oh and a Little Cricket.
I really don't understand the Men In Black line, MIB hasn't been relavent in years.

Honestly, closeness to character model or not, I was somewhat considering picking up the first Liara but I have less than no interest in the new mold. And most of that is just based on the bustline which looks terrible now.
I really don't understand the Men In Black line, MIB hasn't been relavent in years.

MIB 3 is coming out in May. Cue the WHY memes.
Please do a Tali figure, please do a Tali figure, please please pleeeeaaasse.
Yeah, I like her better like this. Before the pose looked stilted to me, now it looks like it's about holding the gun rather shoving a big pair of boobs up and out.

>>just based on the bustline which looks terrible now.

Is that 'cause they're oddly high and popping out from her body, or just 'cause you like 'em bigger?

Why? Money, duh!

The shape looks all wrong.

But how will they model the trademark baby face on her?

That said, Tali looks a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle better. The face still looks silly though, and you could land the Normandy on her forehead, goddamn. Smaller bust is a welcome change, but her posture is kinda silly. The arch in her back is also kinda awkward, but I guess that's just another staple of the bishoujo line.
Suddenly she looks like something I might buy. The enormous chest looked ridiculous to me.
Tali, Kasumi (red Variant plz) and Garrus!

I'm just tickled at the thought of trying to bishoujo-ize Garrus.

Custom Made Monday: It's a me, Mario

Well, it's almost time for E3, so I guess Custom Made Monday ought to get with the times and showcase a little bit of gaming-themed customs. Of course, I say a little bit because there's others that draw their inspiration from movies, and yet others from food and piracy. Not the online kind. I'd suggest hopping past the jump to check them out ... because you really can't otherwise, can you?
