It's no secret that I don't keep current with comics and cross-continuity events like Fear Itself play no small part in that decision. All the same, it's hard to not like an event with a catchy name that features significant revamps of  major characters and Diamond Select Toys seems to be the first to represent some of these in figure form for their Minimates line.

The storyline for the cross-over involves Odin's previously unheard of brother and fear deity, Serpent (or Cul), escaping from captivity and using magic hammers to turn "worthy" characters into his minions (meaning power-ups and costume revamps; not to be outdone, the Asgardians give some heroes new gear as well). This leads to an all-out war with a few long-standing ramifications (including Colossus becoming the new Juggernaut).

For the stout of heart, next week two 4-figure box sets will begin hitting specialty retailers. One pack depicts members of "The Worthy" (Serpent's faction). It consists of Skadi (Sin), Mokk (The Gray Gargoyle), Angir (Thing), and Serpent itself. The other pack features the opposing faction  dubbed "The Mighty". It features Iron Man, Spider-Man, Hawkeye, and Odin.
