Let's talk about cake...in context. Today's release is a treat in commemoration of the birth of our Lord and Savior. So why not make a special cake featuring a series which draws things that sound cool from its theology? Bandai, through their premium shop label, has twice before released special Evangelion cakes. The first release was bundled with a figure of Rei and Spear of Longinus, which I would assert use of such as a fork. The next release came with Asuka and a replica Progressive Knife, which I would combine with my Longinus fork to enjoy the tasty commercial product. Sadly, there's no Evangelion weapon which could possibly become a spoon, so it's back to knives for Bandai.
The special Christmas cake is the Asuka release all over again, but now features a new cake. The cake features a strawberry glaze and filling, matching nicely with the red of Asuka's plug suit. Sure, you could rip through it like a berserk EVA unit, but you're a civilized person. You can use the stainless steel Progressive Knife to cut and enjoy your Christmas cake.
This release will solely be available via the Bandai Premium shop this holiday season for 4,500 yen. Unless you live in Japan, I don't think you'd want to middleman the cake. Perhaps you can just use the cake as a peace offering and just have them send you the figure and knife. It is a lovely figure, but even more so, it's a disappointment that you can't eat that cake. Just admire it, knowing you can never have it, but at least take comfort in Asuka and her knife.
