New Transformers magazine scans are Prime indeedFigure king this month covered all their bases by releasing new pictures of four different Transformers lines. They even squeezed in a few firsts for good measure. Takara Tomy has some very interesting things in store, much of which won't see release outside of Japanese import. -Transformers: Prime Much like with Hasbro, the big thing for Takara right now is Prime. Unlike Hasbro they aren't looking to cut costs (and value), but rather are doing some great new things with the line. For starters they're including Arms Microns with all of their figures, small figures that turn into weapons for their larger partner to use. For example the Takara version of Arms Master Optimus Prime (Hasbro's Weaponizer Optimus Prime) comes with a transforming Matrix that can double as armor or as a mount for attaching more Arms Microns to Optimus. Meanwhile Ironhide includes an Arms Micron canon that can be mounted to his truck bed. The most impressive piece is Gaia Uncron. This is our first good look at Gaia Unicron in color as well as a clear look at his multiple forms. His Primary form is, of course, his giant robot mode, but he also has a sort of space ship mode and a mode that can act as armor for either Optimus Prime or Megatron. It's not the most convincing armor in the world, but it's something. -Transformers United Takara Tomy is continuing to use the Transformers United line as a place to showcase some figures that were originally only released by Hasbro. What we knew as Power Core Combiners is finding new life (and names) in Takara's "EX" sub line. Featured are Jet Master Prime, Combat Master Prime, and Roller Master vs. Chopper Master two-pack. Don't be confused, these are only "Primes" in name and not a new group of Autobot leaders. The new paint is nice, but I'm not so sure Japan will jump on these any better than the rest of us did. -Transformers Masterpiece Soundwave, Sideswipe, and Red Alert make their monthly rounds again in these new shots. There's nothing particularly new to note, just some great new drool-worthy pictures! -Revoltech Some of the features of Kaiyodo's Revoltech SFX #040 Optimus Prime DX are showcased in these new pictures. Optimus will feature two heads so he can be displayed with and without his face plate. The Jet Wing pack can be broken down into several smaller parts and reassembled in different ways such as a shield. The thrusters are also articulated for more dynamic posing. Last but not least the Energon sword that came with the previous release now has an optional sword handle so it can be held in his hand rather than take the place of it. Everything is looking great, but I'm a little concerned as the previous version had very floppy joints. Check out the gallery for a good look at everything mentioned above! Did you know?
