New art shows opening this weekend

3:00 PM on 02.01.2013 // Brian Szabelski

For those of you who have an interest in art shows, the first weekend in February is promising to be a busy one. A couple in particular have some names you might recognize:

  • Three solo shows open tonight at Stranger Factoryv (109 Carlisle Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, N.M.): Long Dogs, featuring the works of Leecifer; Foretell, featuring works from Jason Limon; and Empty World, featuring works from DrilOne. As you might guess, each show features original artwork, including customs, from each artist, and Leecifer has sent us a preview of some of his works for Long Dogs. The opening hours for all three shows are 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mountain, and all three shows will be there through Feb. 24.
  • Meanwhile, at Toy Art Gallery (7571 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles) this Saturday, it's the opening night of Pseudomorphism, which features new pieces from Blobpus, Paul Kaiju, and Hawana, and figures by Yamomark. Over 100 customs will be on display, including the new Vertabrata piece by Paul and Blobpus. The show opens from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Pacific and runs through Feb. 23.
  • Finally, this Saturday at Rivet Gallery (1200 N. High St., Columbus, Ohio), Ohio, You RAWK! opens. The show features gig posters and other rock-inspired work from artists who live in the state, including Greasebat creator Jeff Lamm. The show opens from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern and runs through March 10.

Be sure to head out and support the artists if you can (and if you're interested)!
