Nendoroid Snow Miku 2012 arrives ... with issues

Paint defects, broken joints among serious problems reported in Japan

About a month ago, Snow Miku 2012 Nendo buyers got some happy news: everything was alright finally and she was coming out on Aug. 30. We kind of thought that was the end of the story.

It's not.

The first orders have been shipped in Japan and arrived to their owners ... who are now proceeding to report a multitude of defects on 2chan. These range from paint chips and defects to more serious things, like breaking joints in her twintails and neck (!!), odd seams, flash and grime present on parts of Miku, her coat buttons popping out and more. (MyFigureCollection user General_noodles has collected some of them as well in case the 2chan thread disappears by the time you're reading this.)

Good Smile reported the issue Monday, then followed up yesterday by saying they'd be sending our replacement twintails and mic stand sets to everyone, and that if there were any issues (i.e. broken joint pieces stuck inside the head) to contact customer service. But the problems go well beyond just some broken twintail joints and crooked mic stands, as evidenced by the gallery.

There are serious quality control problems that resurrect memories of the days of Bad Frown Company, and for a figure that got a two-month delay due to those issues before, this borders on the unacceptable. It has me seriously questioning going forward on a Yukata Miku Nendoroid purchase this month that I was thinking of doing and I'm terrified that I (and the four other folks in my group) will end up with a lemon Nendoroid ... and judging by the MFC discussion on Snow Miku's page, I feel like I'm not alone on this.

[Thanks for the heads-up, Drew!]

[UPDATE: Add the hair ribbon piece to the list of replacement parts as well.]
