Moboto brings character to your iPhone photo

Ever wonder what your smartphone or tablet might be like with a personality all its own ... and maybe a little, designer-toy-like body? Then Moboto is what you're looking for. According to Mark Solomon, Moboto's creator and designer, "Moboto is a new and unique physical and digital experience for mobile devices. When your device docks with Moboto, Moboto comes to life and show his personality through a combination of apps, phone sensors and interactive features." Or, in other words, it turns your phone into an interactive collectible, of sorts.

So where's the designer toy part come into effect? Moboto is customizable, with different shapes and sizes, along with a variety of interlocking bases, attachments like arms, and more. So you could, in theory, build a Moboto that is tuned exactly to how you want it. They're also hoping to add licenses to the Moboto line, much like say, Mimoco does with the Mimobot line. That could lead to some interesting Mobotos, I think, depending on what they add to the line-up.

Moboto's Kickstarter ends July 17 at just before 6 p.m. Eastern, with US$25,000 of the US$400,000 goal already pledged. Moboto's currently only iOS compatible, but for those who have an Android phone (like me!) or a Windows phone should know they're working on bringing the Moboto experience to those phones, too. Check out the Kickstarter page for more details and let us know in the comments what you think!
