Michiko to Hatchin finally in figure form photo

A few seasons ago, you may have watched the crazy adventures of Michiko and her daughter Hatchin in Brazil that was produced by studio Manglobe. Shinichiro Watanabe's musical adventure with unique flair was perfect to be transferred to figure form with its rather unique style, but, Kaitendo... this is just lazy and horrible. Not only does it feel like Kaitendo popped in the Bluray for less than a minute, saw the opening song where Michiko and Hatchin are posed on their vespa, and called it a day, but no, they really wanted to stick it to the fans. Michiko looks more like an African-American hip-hopper rather than a Brazilian, and Hatchin is so lifeless and awkwardly posed in the back that it looks like a statue of some awkward kidnapping, not the amazing flair and adventures of the show.

To make matters worse, this entire figure is only 1/12th scale (figma sized for those not in the know) and costs a whopping 16,800 yen at retail! Yes, it's made of polystone, but that doesn't make up for the ridiculousness of this whole figure in general. I really hope that no one has preordered this so far in the last 12 hours and I hope that that continues to the point where this has to get scrapped due to a lack of orders because this is seriously one of the all time worst figures I have ever seen and is a complete disgrace to the source material and intelligence of collectors. If you're feeling particularly crazy or want to buy this as a gag gift for someone, you can order it from Hobby Search for 14,280 yen or AmiAmi for 13,720 yen and this monstrosity will be released in November (but hopefully not). You couldn't pay me to have this in my collection.

MOAR WTF Japan?:

I think "lol" sums up my thoughts pretty well.
I was waiting for color pics of this one for a long time.
But I guess poor Hatchin still looks silly.

Still haven't finished watching the show, but I wanted to see more figures of them. I wouldn't mind a figure of either eating pastel ´w`
...I love pastel ´w`;;
Not really familar with the series but from your review the 1/12th scale and price already killed it for me. Besides if it was in my collection, I would make sure I would place it in front of a brick wall just because her eyes are not on the road and having a awkward style.
I don't think Michiko's too bad, but Hatchin's pose is pretty awkward and the bike looks incredibly cheap. On the whole, it's a really poor effort, especially considering the price.

I'd dearly love to see the likes of Alter do the subject matter justice.
The girl at the backl looks like she was just an afterthought..
So small..well the vespa can be used to pose with your figma. :P
And omg that price.
I thought the series was set in a fictional country created with a mishmash of Latin American stereotypes? At least the couple of episodes I saw made it look like that.

Pity about this figure. Since Michiko's design looks so different from anything in my collection I'd love to see a good manufacturer release a good PVC of her.
wow... that price from a fantastic series but...ugh i can't comprehend this.
This looks like gashapon quality, if even that.
1/12 scale for that price?! Did that come out of a random number generator?
@zcastillo
The series is definatelly placed in Brazil, even though the scenario from the first episodes isn't all that familiar to me... The scenes on the city definatelly portrayed well Rio's poorer landscape. That, and the fact that they're always eating Pastel.
Have I already mentioned I love pastel?
Let's hope this doesnt kill any other attempts from other companies of putting together more Michiko figures. Been excited to see what will come up and this is a poor first step. Everything seems to kill the buzz, price, scale and over all composition.
