Marvel Bishoujo in a Word: Daaayuumm

One of the pieces that really grabbed our attention last year was a 1/8 piece of X-Men Heroine Rogue by the team of Shunya Yamashita and Koei Matsumoto.  Now that spring has come, the finished product and details have started to bloom.  As spotted on AmiAmi, the Rogue is the second piece to be released in a new line called Marvel Bishoujo being produced by Kotobukiya.  While Rogue was announced for a June release, we'll only have to wait until May for the release of the first figure, Black Widow.

All I can say is daaayuuum.  Black Widow is simply stunning.  I can't really describe how amazing this piece looks.  The same goes for my impression on the Rogue piece.  What makes this line really great though is that you can tell who the figures are supposed to be.  Unlike DC's AmeComi line, Marvel Bishoujo simply re-stylizes the character rather than a radical overhaul of the character's entire design.  Yamashita understands what these characters are supposed to resemble and it shows in his work.

For those interested parties, you can currently preorder on HLJ with Black Widow listing for 6200 yen or Rogue for a preorder special of 5890 yen.  However, if you can wait until the end of July, you can save about $20 by pre-ordering from Kid Nemo, where each piece is only $48.  You can also score from Kid Nemo the 3rd piece in the line, Scarlet Witch, due for a September release for the same price.
