Mark your calendars: SDCC, WonFes Winter dates announced photo

If you like to plan ahead, get your calendars out: the dates for San Diego Comic Con 2013 and Wonder Festival 2013 Winter are official and neither is a surprise. First, for you anime and PVC fans, Kaiyodo's Wonder Festival website lists the wintertime installment on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, which means I'm going to be spending my birthday the following day catching up on posting WonFes stuff.

Meanwhile, San Diego Comic Con's dates have been quietly put up on the Comic Con website, and it's no surprise: July 18-21, 2013, with preview night on Wednesday, July 17, 2013. It's a week later than this year, so let's hope the WonFes committee doesn't get any ideas and moves WonFes 2013 Summer up a week. I'm not hoping to go through that coverage nightmare again ...

Also worth noting, the shows will be at their same old venues: Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, for WonFes and San Diego Convention Center for Comic Con. Both events will be covered here on Tomopop, along with, many more, so stay tuned!

ACen 2013: Max Factory

Most of Max Factory's presence at ACen was in figma form, but they had a trio of scale PVC figures there too. Two of them are recent releases: DRAMAtical Murder's Aoba, and Horizon on the Middle of Nowhere's Tomo. Aoba looked...

ACen 2013: Bandai/Bluefin part 2

It's funny how being around a lot of something can make me want that thing. I never figured myself to be big on Gunpla, as I was never into Gundam. But seeing all the various model kits on display at Bluefin's booth was enoug...

ACen 2013: Athena's Wink

This isn't what we usually cover, but it is hand-crafted collectible merchandise so I thought creations of Athena's Wink are worth taking a look at. Their booth was run by Carolann Voltarel and Carrie Wink, who spend a lot of...

ACen 2013: Max Factory's figma

At Anime Central, Max Factory's figma line had a great selection of their current and upcoming figures. Among them, there were figures from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Cobra, and Kid Icarus. Also in attendance were the very p...

ACen 2013: Bandai/Bluefin

At Anime Central, Bandai had figures on display from their own line in the Bluefin booth, as well as D-Arts and SH Figuarts. There was nothing particularly shocking or brand new from them here. Most of their collection ...

ACen: Good Smile Company shows off more Miku

Good Smile Company had a lot of products on display at ACen this year. My favorite of which was Deep Sea Miku but their Nendoroid Racing Miku is pretty sweet. It looks like she has semi translucent hair and with the car and u...

ACen 2013: Tasty Peach Studios

Over at the recent Anime Central convention, Tasty Peach Studios served up some adorable plushes along with clothing and accessories. But, let's be honest, what I have my eyes on are the plush toys and, boy, are these cu...

ACen 2013: Sammy Kammy Studios

Sammy Kammy Studios is a relatively new name in the world of plush, but looks like she's got something that's pretty interesting. Sammy is planning to make and sell plush Mass Production Evas from End of Evangelion. She was a...

ACen 2013: Play Arts Kai

In addition to Bandai's wares, Bluefin also had many of Square Enix's recent Play Arts Kai releases on display. If you've forgotten what's out there or otherwise haven't kept up, consider this a good reminder. They include bo...

A glance at the wares of Design Festa 37

This past weekend was Design Festa 37 at Tokyo Big Sight, and quite a few familiar names were in attendance with new wares. TOUMA seemed to have an especially large presence there this year; to start, he had his own boot...
