Man selling 1,300 One Piece bootlegs arrestedBootlegs suck, we all know that. We've all seen them, sitting on store shelves and at conventions, made entirely to deceive people into thinking they're getting a good deal on the figure they want. Some of us have even fallen victim to their deception. Their evil nature makes stories like this all the more satisfying. A 21-year-old Chinese student living in Japan has been arrested on suspicions of selling 1,300 bootleg One Piece figures online for ¥5 million (currently about US$63,000) between February 2011 and July 2012. He says he knew they were bootlegs, but that he "did it to make a living." That's a heck of a living, that's more than some of us make in two or three years. The figures were imported from China before going to online auction in Japan. He was also charged for the possession of 85 bootleg One Piece figures at his home on July 18 with the intent to sell. It'd be nice if law enforcement world wide were as aware of these activities as the Japanese are. Japanese police have done a number of similar arrests as of late, but this is easily the biggest among them. Keep up the good work! [via Anime News Network, Asahi Shimbun] Did you know?
