Mami and Homura are the next Real Action Heroes

Mami and Homura are the next Real Action Heroes photo

It seems Mami Tomoe and Homura Akemi, two of the heroines of the spectacular (and oft-merchandised) anime series, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, have been inducted into Medicom's Real Action Heroes (also know as RAH) line of figures. Pre-order listing for both girls were spotted at several toy websites. Mami and Homura follow in the footsteps of Madoka, who was the first of the Puella Magi to join this line.

As is typical of the Real Action Heroes, the girls sport real cloth outfits and a bevy of accessories. Mami comes with six muskets, her soul gem, an extra "despair" face, and, of course, a mini Charlotte figure. While Mami's add-ons are great and all (you really can't lose with Charlotte), I am more impressed with Homura's. The time-traveler comes with three expressions (stoic, yelling, and smiling), glasses, two hairstyles (loose and braided), her soul gem, plus four weapons (golf club, explosive, M260 SAW machine gun, and bazooka). What I think is so great Homura's set is that it covers so much of the show's development along with her own personal growth.

The figures themselves are pretty big, each standing 27 and half centimeters tall. Given that and the amount of detail put into the figure plus the cornucopia of accessories, you would expect these toys to be expensive and, well, you would be right.  Mami and Homura each cost ¥20952. They are available for pre-order now, with Mami releasing in May 2013 and Homura joining her in August 2013.
