[Update 4: With the final pick in the NFL Draft... it's Marvel Comics' Storm. All is forgiven! No DC Bishoujo this weekend. That's all for unveils tonight folks. Look forward for some more news from the NYCC show floor during the weekend.]

[Update 3: Oh hello, it's Marvel Comics' Black Widow! Go ahead post your rage and/or meh in the comments! Seriously, another one? No Storm? Booo!]

[Update 2.5: Thanks to our editor Jackie, they are placing banners of the figures up at NYCC as they are announced. We'll be getting more images as they become available!]

[Update 2: Asuka Kazama of Tekken Tag 2. The third lady of the Tekken Bishoujo series!]

[Update 1: Jaina Solo of the Star Wars extended universe! I don't think ANYONE could have called this an expected pick. Discuss!]

Kotobukiya has a lot in store for us at New York Comic Con this weekend. While our crew is busy roaming the floors of the Javits Center, Kotobukiya is giving us something to look forward to here at home. From the comfort of your sitting position, check out Kotobukiya US' Facebook page, where from 4 p.m. Eastern until 7 p.m., they'll be unveiling 4 new Bishoujo figures each hour.

We'll be updating here on Tomopop as they're announced. Also, should they be exposed out on the show floor, we'll be getting you those images as well. Let us know what you think of these new releases, what you'd like to see, or some predictions as to what will be unveiled!

Can I pretend to be excited for this news? =p

Honestly, given that in the entirety of the Bishoujo line there have been maybe 5 designs I've liked, odds are that the announcements won't thrill me. I'm assuming that this isn't limited to the comic franchises, as the header (Batgirl, Emma Frost, Black Widow?) might imply? I'd wager that we'll see at least one new Tekken one then probably at least one DC and Marvel. Actually, will the unveil include prototypes for designs or things previously announced? We supposedly have a Storm down the pipeline, right?

In regards to multiple franchises: probably. :)

In regards to the header: yeah, it's a placeholder, lol.

In regards to Storm: I really hope. She's one of the most requested every time they do a Facebook poll.
first update and they already got my attention. I'm looking forward to what else they've got to show.
....okay, that was kinda out of left field.

Very cute illustration that completely ignores the actual character. Then again, most people don't even know who Jaina Solo is so I can't imagine she'll catch as much flack as other characters. And they do get *some* leeway considering there isn't as much/many official art/depictions of her as other characters. Again, liking that illustration. I can't wait to see how Koto fucks up the final version, though.
Don't know much about the extended universe but as a standalone design for me, I think she's pretty. Uniform half off with tank top and wavy hair? Sold! Hopefully it'll be one of the better transitions to 3D.
Actually, I'm really hoping they won't just do illustrations.
Wow, please dont screw that up Koto. I'd kill for a Jaina.

How does this ignore the character, by the way? She's a brunette jedi who later in the series adds fighter pilot to her title.
I think it's kind of hard to say that Jaina was an unexpected pick, the announcement for her was done right after SDCC along with some unrefined concept art. She looks cute, and I think less bustier than the original illustration--seems like they're going for a sexed-down look with some of these new girls.

Well, that's an incredibly superficial summation of her character >_> At any rate, were you mostly following the Young Jedi novels, the New Jedi Order novels, some of the other novels, or just the comics?
===="I think it's kind of hard to say that Jaina was an unexpected pick, the announcement for her was done right after SDCC along with some unrefined concept art. "

I wasn't even aware they had the licensing for SW =x When did they acquire it?

And out of all the characters they could have gone with (movie characters especially), I'd have to say it's at least an unusual choice

It is, but I'm not about to get super-detailed on here. lol And anyway, I've read all of the YJ/NJO novels, not the comics though.
Yay, more derp-looking characters from kotobukiya, I can barely hold my excitement...

They've had it for a good long while. They have several ArtFX statues they've done that I'll one day own.
Yeah, what's kind of surprising is that they haven't tapped that Star Wars license until now. But I really like the design, not too sexed up but still really cute. And I'll be incredibly surprised if we don't see a Storm. She's incredibly high on the most wanted list. And what other licenses could they tap that they haven't already? Is Halo in the realm of possibility? Something Capcom related? Or maybe they'll do another Mass Effect (although I'm not sure we'll see more than Liara after the Western fans threw a hissy fit). I don't see a Tali coming as such a staple of Shunya's is the face.

Anyway, to the Koto haters, I hear you. But, Koto's been doing much better lately with some of their Bishoujo releases, especially regarding bases and fixing some of the ugly seams prevalent in their early releases. They're no Alter or GSC for that matter, but they're improving. And you can't argue with the price for these things.

Storm is just something they have to do now. I just feel like I would be incredibly disappointed if it wasn't. Hopefully, they'll do right and make it Storm. Also, I'm really surprised they haven't done Cortana from Halo yet. Given how much Koto LOVES clear PVC, it's a no-brainer for them.

I don't see Tali either unless her face gets shown in ME3 and it's not hideous. Andres and I were going back and forth about what might show up; we both agreed if they can get the OK to do it, Cortana would be a good fit. They love them some translucent PVC, don't they? :)
Jaina Solo? That's actually pretty cool.
So I guess they're doing one of each (Movie, Games, DC, Marvel), which means our next two announcements are going to be the DC and Marvel ones. Probably in that order, too.
The Devil May Cry figures Koto made some years ago were impressive. But these bishoujo ones don't appeal that much to me.
WTF did they do to Asuka, WHAT THE HELL

WTF did they do to Asuka, WHAT THE HELL

According to the Bishoujo line, you can only be enticing if you show off your goods.

Pretty much this, except sometimes not. *points to Jaina*
Hm. I'm glad that they are trying to improve past works, but I'm still meh about black Widow. Although the base is nicer, especially with the masks, I feel the pose is still similar to the old BW. Plus, I want new characters to get bishoujo-ized and prototypes!
@Andres and Brian

You know, I feel incredibly stupid for not even considering Cortana. Who would be a better fit? I was thinking something more along the lines of a female Spartan with battle damage, a la Lucy. I can't imagine that not happening now.
Loving the Jaina and Black Widow, not so much Asuka. I feel like she's supposed to be more of that old fashioned with an edge beauty, not some bimbo in a zip up tube top. We'll see how the final figures turns out, but I'm skeptical. Oh, and please let the last one either be Storm, Firestar, or Starfire. All three are characters could use some attention.
When I look at the Asuka design, all I can think of is Rumble Roses...

I'm guessing this has to do with creative liberties. Lucas probably doesn't want them whoring up established characters, but Namco? No problem.
Kinda want to see Storms Base.
Good, that's all I wanted. Plus Jaina as a bonus.

Storm? Black Widow? Jiana?! It's all the same face! IT FEELS LIKE I'M TAKING CRAZY PILLS!
Storm's bust looks wack but otherwise a nice design.

Didn't we see that Asuka before? Kinda want to see how these turn out but, at the same time, none of the announcements really excites me.

====="They've had it for a good long while. They have several ArtFX statues they've done that I'll one day own. "

Meh, forgot that the main division had it. I was thinking of approval at the line level.

====="Oh, and please let the last one either be Storm, Firestar, or Starfire. All three are characters could use some attention. "

If they did Starfire they'd probably opt for a conservative design. I remember when they finally brought out Poison Ivy, which is the queen of all excuses for being scantily clad and suggestively postured, yet she ended up looking tasteful.
HNNNNN doesn't care I'll drop money for those!
Kotobukiya gon make it rain.
Jains. WOAH who saw that coming? Almost thought it was Chell from Portal. Pretty cool though

Asuka: ): I dont mind the faces of the bishoujo line, but I dislike them changing the costume so much. Do not want, which is a shame since I like the character.

Black Widow: actually make sense. I'd make sense to make a version that fits I. With the bigger newer figures, and I hadn't picked up her yet.

Storm: must get :D

You bring up a good point with Black Widow. She is smaller, so this is actually a bigger figure, most likely. Explains why they chose to redo her, as well.
THAT STORM
I am pleased. BI But where the fuck is my Harley Quinn, Koto? WHERE IS SHE.
Also I am FLOORED by how tasteful that Jaina is! A lovely (if a little boring) pose, no massive bust, no torn pants, not even any cleavage!!! She is probably one of the most aesthetically pleasing Bishoujo designs I've seen in a while.

lol, certainly know that feeling

We have an answer on that, actually. I think Kris, Pedro and Jackie will mention this, but she had to go back to the drawing board when they separated Ivy and Harley into two separate figures.

Yeah, we won't be seeing her because they're still fiddling with the illustration the sculpt will be based on. Don't worry, we were just as anxious as you are XD
STORM!?!?! yessssssssssssssssssss!
I won't lie, I think Asuka's design actually looks better than Christie's. I'm still waiting for an Alisa prototype though since she's my fave Tekken character. Still, I wish they didn't change the designs as much they did. =(
Koto, just go ahead and take all my monies. Just take it. :P
i love jaina's look but for a moment i though she was chell and got SO EXCITED I COULDN'T BREATHE

Ahhh, ok. BI
well hopefully the fact that she's gone back to the drawing board just means she'll look especially awesome, right!?!??!?
