Kotobukiya shows another side of Ayase

Kotobukiya shows another side of Ayase photo

Kotobukiya's 1/8 scale "Thanatos Ver." Ayase Aragaki is currently available for pre-order. The usually conservative (almost prudish) Ayase is uncharacteristically depicted in a provocative outfit apparently styled after the character Thanatos Eros from one of Oreimo's fictional anime, Stardust Witch Meruru. While the actual Ayase may have shot down the cosplay suggestion as being too lewd, Kotobukiya has managed to get her in the outfit anyway and the character looks none too happy for it.

Oddly, it might be Ayase's discomfort that adds charm to the figure, as it captures Ayase's personality in her reaction to this drastically off-type costume. Both the sculpting and color use render this one a distinctive, oddly attractive piece. The coiled snake may strike some as being ostentatiously lewd (more-so if they confuse it for a tentacle) but it's certainly not more objectionable than the surprisingly bare back costuming (and subsequent bare bottom).

For those who enjoy a provocative take on Ayase, Kobobukiya's Thanatos version is set to release in late July.

The latest one to arrive is Emilie de Rochefort, otherwise known as Lili. This figure has its unique charms, as I was pleased to discover during the review process. Read on to see what I mean!
