Kotobukiya's ZOIDS Saber Tiger Gold reminds me why I love robotic tigers

Jan 12 // Chris Pranger

ZOIDS, now that takes me back to a simpler time, a time when Toonami was the thing I looked forward to every afternoon and nothing ever had to make sense. I mean, gigantic robotic tigers and wolves and stuff? That's just the stuff that sweet dreams are made of. And Kotobukiya has decided to further sweeten my dreams with the ZOIDS Saber Tiger Gold plamo Irisawa Limited Edition No.8 model kit. God do I love giant robot tigers!

"Detailed" doesn't properly convey what I'm seeing here. I believe in this instance we'd refer to the Saber Tiger Gold as being "stacked." Kotobuyika has armed the Saber Tiger to the saber teeth with guns and articulation and all the things you'd really want from a model such as this. The top of the head even has a hatch for a little figure to sit in, maintaining perfection at a 1/72 scale. Why we can't have a 1/1 scale model of a ZOID similar to that Gundam built in Japan a while ago is something I'll never understand.

The length for the Saber Tiger is only 290mm, but the price isn't unreasonable coming in at ¥7,140, or approximately US$86. At least you're not paying as much as the Shield Liger, so there's always a silver lining. The Saber Tiger Gold will release February (that's next month), so you have plenty of time to band together and purchase this for me. Chop chop! Those Saber Tigers aren't gonna purchase themselves for Chris any time soon!
