Kotobukiya's Ghostbuster Bishoujo up for order photo

Kotobukiya's Ghostbuster Bishoujo has been a source of controversy since it was first revealed, mostly because ... well, I think in all honesty the Bishoujo line is always a source of controversy. Basing a figure (an anime figure) on a classic US character or source is going to bring extra criticism, as we have seen many times. But now we get to see this gal, who is named Lucy, with a coat of paint!

She's definitely looking nice here, with a good interpretation of the Shunya face. I love how the ripped clothing came out, though I am not too sure how I feel about the pink thong. She is set for a July release, retails for ¥6,800, and is listed as 1/7 scale. It's hard to say exactly how big she will be, but the past few releases have been pretty much true to scale.

We get some very interesting information with this release, though. We were previously told that this was a stand-alone release, but apparently there is going to be a new Bishoujo line to go alongside Marvel and DC -- a Movie line! Regardless of whether or not this is entirely accurate to the original characters, this offers up some pretty cool potential. Tron Bishoujo! Stormtrooper Bishoujo! Aliens Bishoujo! What would you like to see added to this new line, Tomopeeps?

That face is awful. The body is good, but that face can in no way save that figure. Definitely passing on this now.
Fifth Element Leeloo please.
I really want to order this figure and I just might still, but I am kind of not liking the ripped clothes = panty look with thong showing above. What? Why was that needed at all? I mean I get it "bishoujo" and all but could we have just seen her in hot pants or just a skirt or something. She looks like her clothes melted off in an unflattering way to me. Not liking that so much, but the fact she's ghostbuster and her face makes up for the fact I would be uncomfortable displaying her out in public.

I'd like to see Indy and SW bishoujo too!
I've said enough about my high dislike for this figure. With that said, with the pants that ripped what is the point of even having pants?
Yes, there are so many things wrong with this figure I hardly know where to begin but it probably would start with the ripped pants... which are the only thing ripped in her costume.

The only thing I think I like is the hair.
Still an interesting concept, but like Andres, I feel weird about the face. Going to hold off until we see more shots of it.

I love the idea of seeing Bishoujo adapted to other lines..I wonder what they'll take on next.
I really love the face, and I like the top half of the figure... Not a fan of the thong poking out (trashy!) and the ripped pants (why not just cute short-shorts, or just less liberally ripped pants) but I might still try to get her, provided my wallet isn't weeping after July is over. Probably wait for an American release if there is one.
The Pink Thong definitely adds a "trashy" feel to it that I wasn't feeling with the cleavage, midriff or even the ripped pants. (besides, Commando can be sexy too ^__- )

I don't mind the expanding of the Bishojou line into movie properties as long as it's not transforming male characters into sexy girls. I can even accept "sexy stormtrooper" just as long as we don't get "Martha McFly" or some such >_
if only it were poseable

I didn't like the ripped pants idea and the face looks a bit off to me so no I'm not even thinking about buying it. A movie line would be cool though, if they do actual female characters instead of OCs. I would want a Quorra tron bishoujo!
And the face kills it for me...
ehhh..the pink thong just kills me in a bad way. did they add that so that people know she's not commando?
face isn't bad..but i kinda would have preferred if she wasn't ripped up especially when up top she's intact.
kotobukiya, do a second version now!
I actually like the sculpt and the face. When I saw the concept art, it was going to be an instabuy for me. When I saw the pics.... the color kills it for me. The blue/pink/yellow just clashes with the rest of the outfit. I has a sad.
Well known franchise + girl + skimpy outfit = profit

Looks pretty good, but the painting on the face is pretty bad.

Look, we all know that women can't concentrate on busting ghosts unless they're being sexualized, sheesh!

YES! The colors are so off.

While I will be keeping my preorder up, I can't say that I love what I see. Something about her hair turns me off, not sure whats up with the semi-assless pants, and the colors seem so off from the illustration. I liked the inclusion of the red patch on her chest, the Ghostbusters logo seems to be gone from her arm (no License? huh?), The blue is too bright, I think it should be more pastel and the yellow is very attention grabbing. The colors really throw me off on this one. Her uniform should be more of a tan , not really green. Koto can do better.
I agree with some of the others... the illustration was an instant buy for me but now seeing it... i don't like the face that much, the colors really clash and she doesn't have a Ghostbusters logo on her arm... i would like to see it in person to really make a final judgement but I'm going to have to pass for now.
not sure whats up with the semi-assless pants

Semi-assless pants are always an improvement. F**k pants.

As much as I am a proponent of pants-free living (I've managed to avoid wearing pants for over a week straight despite the cold weather!) this figure really does nothing for me.

The pink thong is beyond trashy, just a little sticking out would be okay but i feel like the girl needs to pull what's left of those pants up. The face really not my cup of tea either. It's a shame because when I saw the original artwork I was definitely intrigued.

Here's hoping we get a real nice Ripley from the Alien franchise. Preferably with large gun or some sort of suggestion of that amazing exo-suit from Aliens.

I'd also enjoy a female Indiana Jones :) Here's hoping that this one sells enough that they continue the line! XD
I am not liking that face at all.
And honestly, the thong ruins it for me. It's an unecessarily sexy touch on something that's ALREADY SEXY.
I was semi-interested in this figure before. Not any more.
Look, we all know that women can't concentrate on busting ghosts unless they're being sexualized, sheesh!

for a second there i read that as the ghost being sexualized. lol.
I'm sure sexy ghosts have improved survival rates in the wild! ;3 lol
I think the prototype shots came out looking great. I can't believe you people are calling a bishoujo line figure trashy for having a little thongs sticking out, ITS A BISHOUJO LINE FIGURE!
Yes. Its a bishoujo figure, something we have seen many times from Koto and Shunya. However they've never been trashy before. Sera-chan wasnt trashy, neither was Mirei-san. Even Arisa was sexy without looking cheap. Its a minor detail but it stands out because its so different from the vibe the rest of the figure gives. Being hot pink against mostly muted colours doesnt help either.
I would have preferred something more subtle, like black.

I like that the artwork was slightly more....I suppose 'western' would be the term? She looked less like a bishoujo and more like a cute american girl in ghostbusters get-up. The rounder, more bobbed hair and rounder face looked cuter, while the current head is just too long and pointed. The teasing smile on the artwork was much nicer than the current one, too. (It looks like she's poking her tongue out a bit here).

Maybe it'll come out nicer in production.
I actually kinda like the eyes...but there are too many other things that bother me about this figure.
