Kotobukiya keeps Virtual On going, Fei Yen model kit up for pre-order photo

Fans of Virtual On must have done serious soul selling for the lineup they've had this year. We've seen so far this year the renewed launch of the model kit line by Kotobukiya, not to mention the XBox Live Arcade release of the Orotorio Tangram. Today it's back to the plastic models as Fei Yen finally sees her re-release, this time in 1/100 scale.

The new kit is made by Kotobukiya and will be out this December. She features plenty of poseability and all the robot girl goodness that you got from her arcade version. The kit should also be a bit easier to put together and paint, as the line is no longer made by Hasegawa. Perhaps the best part of the kit is on the back, as the traditional console backpack is the Sega Dreamcast.

You can currently reserve the kit through Hobby Search, where it will make its way to you this holiday season for 4000 yen. Hit the gallery for all the pics.

oh man so awesome, I love the dreamcast on the back and overall exactly how it looks in game.Me and a friend always called it the Pink Bunny rabbit.
Before I pre order this I'm reading you have to paint this? Like do I have to full on paint it pink or it doesn't come pre packaged like Gunpla does. :( Please give me some insight to someone that only does Gunpla. I've never painted a model before. I really really want this!

It should be full pre-colored plastic, but some of the details there will either be stickers or paint needed to finish them up. It shouldn't be too bad as Kotobukiya has really improved the kits from the old Hasegawa ones.

If you want to see what they would look like unpainted, this was the Raiden kit that was released earlier this year. From the looks of it, it should be safe to get and not worry about paint. Maybe just add a flat coat once you're done to get rid of the plastic-look.

Tempted, as I main Fei-Yen on VOOT (heck, ive beaten japanese players on xbox live with her!!) but kotobukiya kits leave me a little cold.

Their level of detail is fantastic, as their armoured core models can attest, and it looks like they solved the articulation problem which was so prevailant in their other kits (SRW kits, I'm looking at you!!!) but the build sequence is so damn fiddly and they have tonned of pointlessly small parts which makes the process a chore.
And FYI, if the Virtual On kits are anything like the SRW ones, then they WILL need touching up. not neccesarily a full paintjob but minor detailing is a must
I wonder if that Viper model is still around. I know it's probably not but I must go check...
These models are infamous for having loads and loads of wet on decals! if you have some clear coat spray though, you should be fine.
@Andres Cerrato ou sankyuu for that information! I already went and pre ordered her. She's a must have for me! I can do small details but not heavy paints.

Those would be the old Hasegawa kits. I'm really glad that Kotobukiya was able to take the license.
