Kaitendoh's Celty gets more pics, doesn't impress me much

Kaitendoh's Celty gets more pics, doesn't impress me much photo

There are quite a few Durarara fans out there, especially with it being 2010's anime of the year over at sister site Japanator. It should then come as no surprise that figures of the show's eclectic cast are starting to come out, starting with the headless horseman... er... horsewoman, Celty. In fact, she's so popular she's getting two version of her figure: a standard shiny black surface and a flatter, pearl paint version.

With the release of Celty being a scant two months away, some additional photos have popped up of the pearl paint figure, labeled the Ikebukuro Night version. What I see frankly doesn't impress me much. While some of the detailing looks pretty good on Celty's body suit, the paint on her skin looks a bit sallow and lacking in life. There's also the hunk of plastic that is supposed to represent her smoke, but instead looks like a black version of the Dragon's Tear from Chrono Cross. Then again I haven't given DRRR a watch yet, so maybe after a watch I might be a bit more excited about these shots.

Celty retails for ¥6,980. Anybody out there in Tomoland excited for Celty or would any of the other DRRR characters float your boat?

She could be way more aggressive, or at least way more... smokey.
Honestly I was expecting something like Celty riding her motorcycle or some cool posing with the smoke becoming a scythe.
I wouldn't mind that pose if Celty was wearing something colorful or cool, but she just looks plain in general. I don't really see any life in this figure.. :(
her scythe looks cool....yup...........the rest of the figure is pretty static. did they make this back in the 90's ??? she should've been on her bike and that "smoke" coming from her neck, it kinda looks like.....they phoned it in. we've seen a bunch of figs with great smoke/mist effects i was hoping to see that here.
I'm in the minority here, but I really like how this Celty looks. Something about the pose, though it could've been more exciting, does impress me in its own way. It's true to the feel of the series in my opinion. I am disappointed in how she looks without her helmet, but I love her helmet anyway.
I am huge Durarara fan. I seriously own every Dollars merchandise out there along with the novels and manga. I i like this figure a lot. I preordered her Night version and can not wait to get her. The pose makes think of the last episode when she was playfully trying to seduce Shinra.
I haven't seen all of this show yet...but even if I liked what I saw of her character, she doesn't have any expression because of her helmet (which I find kind of silly because of the cat ears). She just looks like a big black line..so nope, not getting her.
This is really disappointing, I was looking forward to this one too, If they used more smoke effects and gave her a better pose she would make a great figure hopefully someone else will make a PVC of her, The smoke looks bad because it's just solid black it needs to be partly translucent and run more freely
Whoa, whoa! Such negativity all about! DEFENSE:

The normal pose is absolute best for Celty. Contrary to the folks of 'Bukuro's opinions and those who just haven't seen the show, Celty is pretty laid-back, timid; not super into the whole, ramming people's heads against street poles with her bike. She WILL but it's kind of a hassle. This pose represents that perfectly. Bloody perfectly.

Additionally, while the figure's skin looks not a bit /sallow/ to these eyes, the affirmative paleness can be happily contributed to... Well, again with a contrary-- to how she's depicted here, Celty never unzips her top, ever (CELTY DAMN YOU.) and thus...sun is where? Nowhere near. She's also a wraith and paleness goes hand in hand there.

On the never-unzips-top-but-look-an-unzipped-top then. That's just some nice fanservice Celty never deigned to offer being Celty. (e.g. Too cute for that.) And it's super nice. Thank you, Kaitendoh.

The smoke sucks, yeah.
I love this figure but I would like it better if she zipped up (even though I am a fan of fanservice).

What Phishu said is VERY true! Any other pose would not suite Celty unless it was an action scene where she actually has to fight.

I would really like to see her in something cute p: Even though she never changes.

[NSFW] Bite into a delicious Shirayukihime pre-order

I've said before that not all blatant fanservice figures are just trashy porn, and as usual, the masterful Tony Taka proves me right again. His earlier designs from Fault!! were absolutely gorgeous, and this original Snow Whi...

Go on a nice boat and pre-order Katsura Kotonoha

Griffon continues their hit or miss streak with this lovely lady from School Days, Katsura. This time I don't think the blame is all on them however, as the series' fairly big-eyed art style is a bit awkward when viewed in 3D...
