K-On's Mio strikes a chord with collectors photo

Full disclosure: I've never been a fan of ultra popular anime series K-On. While its slightly deformed characters tend to look more like blobs of paint rather than actual people, even my distaste has its limits. With K-On, that comes in the form of one Akiyama Mio, the group's raven-haired bassist. I can't pinpoint what it is, but a look around any image board will show that I'm far from the only one who's fallen under her spell.

It goes without saying that such an infamous series would have its fair share of figures, especially now that its second season is airing, and fortunately Mio is getting a lovely treatment from Alter, dressed in her slightly goth-loli style from the series' school festival. They've done a great job on her, especially focusing on the less "moeblob" style of art rather than staying true to the actual series designs.

If you're ready to add her to your collection as much as I am, she'll be released this August for a going rate of 6800 yen.

Uuuh. The moeblob stuff isn't really part of the main series except as an expression. Most of the time it looks like the figure.
It's a beautiful figure and easily my favourite interpretation of Mio wearing that particular outfit. She's a definite purchase.
That figure is definitely amazing. Now my only grate would be why does she have to be so freaking dumb
I have the exact same reaction to both the series and to Mio. :)
I'm actually a fan of the series, but I haven't started my collection of K-ON! figures yet. This version of Mio is gonna be my first purchase, no questions asked. I hope Alter has the other girls down the pipeline for release. I know they sculpted Yui, and Azusa in the past. Ritsu and Tsumugi are they only ones left that haven't received the 1/8 sculpt.
Uplark already released mio in the same outfit a month or so ago, yet somehow just a glance at these pictures tells me that anything by alter is worth it no matter how long you have to wait...

Tsumugi already has a prototype, no color yet. wonder why they haven't made Ritsu yet though.

Don't forget about Max Factory's upcoming version of this Mio, too.
I'm a huge fan of K-ON but I haven't bought a single figure for it yet.
