Josh Finkle's Extinct Toys are a beautiful homage to species lost photo

I was browsing over at NOTCOT today when I spotted these mysterious little wooden silhouettes and found that I had to take a closer look. Created by artist Josh Finkle, each of these figures are dedicated to an animal that recently gone extinct. Based on a Bandicoot, a Sea Cow, a Tasmanian tiger and a Quagga, these pieces are lovingly packaged in information about the animals so you can learn more about why they followed the path that they did.

These are not for sale, but you can check out how they were created at Josh's website here. I really love not only their clean and beautiful presentation, but also the sentiment that inspired them. Have you ever made a custom not based just on looks, but also inspired by something from nature such as these?

They are unique looking..kinda cute too.
First off, these are so incredible! Second, Manatees went extinct?! WTF?!
Those are gorgeous.
Manatees and Sea Cows are different animals--don't worry, there are still a few manatees left in the world. ^^
Gosh... They are cute, but this makes me so sad.
