You utter the name of SD Gundam Force to most Gundam fans and the reaction isn't too pretty. It was a show purposely aimed at kids and people got upset over a children's television show. Even with its shortcomings, I really liked a lot of the designs. Commander Sazabi, the Mercurius and Vayeate, and Deathscythe were my favorite designs. Unfortunately, the toy line became peg warmers, stores didn't want to stock them, and the show was eventually cancelled before the second season began on Toonami. The show didn't do to well in Japan either, so the remainder of its toyline was cancelled as well. In today's find, we get a look at some of the photos of what was planned for the next series of toys for Season 2.
What was planned was a couple of updates to existing figures and some that never got a release. The Dark Axis trio of Zapper Zaku, Grappler Gouf and Destroyer Dom got updated equipment. What I really regret that didn't see the light of day were the Commander Sazabi and Red Zako. The figures themselves weren't bad, just not what people were used to. I can assure you they are durable figures as my 1 year old tosses them around and they're still working.
I can pretty much guarantee that these will never see the light of day, but it's interesting to see what could have been, especially that Commander Sazabi. If you'd like to grasp onto a infinitely ridiculous amount of hope that these may come out, 2013 marks the 10th anniversary of SDGF.
