Hot Toys takes a (X-Men: The) Last Stand with WolverineHot Toys refuses to let either X-Men: The Last Stand's poor critical reception or the fact it came out six years ago stand in the way of figure-making. Even more surprising than this limited edition Wolverine in his X-3 outfit is the figure stand: a smashed Sentinel head! This stand is a reference to the Danger Room sequence at the beginning of the film where the X-Men are fighting Sentinel replicas during the training session (which adds a double insult in the form of not basing one of the films around them, especially since the rest of the movie is mostly downhill from there). The Sentinels are no stranger to X-Men movie canon thanks to X-Men: The Official Game which serves as a tie-in for the events between the second and third X-Men films (and also introduces all sorts of power-level related continuity issues). This show-stealing stand even has a light-up feature! The Wolverine packed with the Sentinel head isn't nearly as impressive. We've already had at least one Hot Toys Wolverine in his X-Men Origins: Wolverine duds and, quite honestly, that figure is the superior version (other than lacking a Sentinel head, of course!) given the display options. This Wolverine gets a new, slightly "angrier" head sculpt that I can't say is much of an improvement because his facial muscles are tensed yet it almost looks like he's smiling. Ultimately it just makes him look goofy, especially when in an action pose. Otherwise it's the same top-notch quality we've come to expect from Hot Toys. I'm really hoping that Hot Toys will wise up and give us a Sentinel figure. Not one in scale with Hot Toy figures, mind you, because that would cost a small fortune. Did you know? Of course, I say a little bit because there's others that draw their inspiration from movies, and yet others from food and piracy. Not the online kind. I'd suggest hopping past the jump to check them out ... because you really can't otherwise, can you?
