HENGE's h010101 is one heck of a way to make a debut photo

HENGE is a relatively new company on the toy market, and if you're going to make your presence known, there's no better way to do it than with something mindblowing. Their newest project, which goes only by its item number of h010101 is certainly eye-catching. Released earlier this month, h010101 is made of polyurethane resin, completely assembled and produced in Japan, and might just be the wet dream of fans of the modern-age mecha. I mean, it looks like something that fell out of Evangelion or Gurren Lagann on design alone. The transforming part ... well, that blows my mind.

Now, this isn't cheap by any means: h010101 is priced at 100,000 yen, which is roughly US$1100. Furthermore, h010101 is limited to a run of 100 pieces. But is it worth it? That's up for you to decide, but the transformation video after the jump might just sway you towards "yes." What say you, Tomopop readers?

MOAR robots!:

Legacy Comments

That is pretty cool, even if the pre-transformed state seems a bit bland. The transformed version actually reminds me a lot of Zone of the Enders' Anubis.
pretty cool

nowhere near 1k though.... when i first saw it i thought it would be like 50-60 bucks ;p
That's just super cool, but not for that price. Maybe down the line they'll do a mass-production run.
As cool and as fluid as that looks, I'm honestly not that impressed, I mean look at it, its a boomerang with plasticy bits attached, and it becomes a very bland robot. You say this is like it dropped right out of eva or gurren lagann, eva perhaps but only slightly, but gurren lagann, it has so much character compared to this. Also the transformation being mindblowing? its nothing compared to the kind of feats the transformers design team do, and that's done on a much lower price range.

Now not completely mugging this off, I would like this if it was a prototype and still in the working stages but as it stands 1K is wayyyy too much for very little.
So, is that the release appearance or is it getting paint first?

Too plastic-y looking as it stands, looks like a questionable 3rd party ipod accessory in at least on of the photos.
