Many of you probably know that Good Smile Company has a motorsports team, Good Smile Racing, that competes in the GT300 class of Japan's Super GT series. They've done personal sponsorships in the past and celebrated their first win by releasing a figure ... but as it turns out, your money's not just going to waste, folks.

This year, GSR/Studie with TeamUkyo's BMW Z4 GT3 went into the final race at Motegi with two wins already on the books and a chance to win the GT300 championship. They needed to beat the #11 Ferrari by 5 points for team championship and 6 points for driver championship (there's separate point systems for both), and Mikatan happened to go along to Motegi for the race.

So what happened? Good Smile Racing won pole position and led the entire race, and with a third-place finish by the #11 team, won both titles for the first time ever! Check out the gallery for photos from the event (including Racing Miku pit girls!) and congrats to drivers Nobuteru Taniguchi and Taku Bamba, as well as the entire Good Smile Racing/Studie/TeamUkyo team, for the accomplishment. Maybe they'll release a special championship figure? Who knows!
