Glamdring slays evil, available in limited quantities photo

I love The Lord of the Rings. I've grown up reading the books and when the movies came out in the early 2000s, I was there opening day in line with the rest of the fantasy nerds. One of the things that made me love the movies so much was the attention to detail that Peter Jackson and Weta put into the costumes and props, especially the weapons. If you're as big a fan of The Lord of the Rings as I am and have some pretty deep pockets then you should take a look at Weta's Master Swordsmith's Collection Glamdring.

Coming in at a hefty US$6,300, this blade comes in a run of 15 and is made when you order it. Let me reiterate that each one is handmade and takes about a month to make since, you know, folding steel and smithing takes a while. Shipping will cost you an additional US$200, but you get a sweet case to display your blade in and a DVD of how Weta made your piece. You'll also have the option to buy later weapons in the Master Swordsmith Collection.

One of the things I wish I could do is collect weapons. If I had the money I'd try and get blacksmiths to make weapons from the various fantasy stories I read and the fact that Weta has gone ahead and done that makes me love them all the more. Unfortunatley, I will not have US$6,500 to get this bad boy in my house, so instead I'll weep into my well-read copy of Lord of the Rings. Are there any legendary weapons that you'd like to be made real?

Legacy Comments

You may be offended by this, but the love and care put into the movies actually made me enjoy the movies more than I did the books.
On to your point, I'd like to see a forging of Terry Brooks' Sword of Shannara.
On a separate geek note, I wouldn't mind seeing Frog's Masamune from Chrono Trigger.
To add to Sotanaht's geek note, I wouldn't mind seeing a full scale Frog statue wielding a real forged Masamune from Chrono Trigger. It would be the most prized yard gnome ever and would likely get stolen if displayed as such.
If its metal cast you could always electrify it...
@Sotanaht

I'm not offended what so ever. Both works are great, I've just got years of reading the books behind me as bias :D

Frog's Masamune would be pretty sick.
I could weep at how awesome that is, in fact that entire website is a feast for the eye.

I wish I could spend stupid amounts of money on things like this, but if I could get any weapon it would be Ivys Snake Ivy Blade from Soul Calibur. It would be one of the most dangerous weapons ever, especially if it was me handling that thing, but I would adore owning that sword.
