Like a futuristic hookshot

[ Update: Grapnel cord confirmed to retract (more details below) and SDCC photo added ]

Among NECA's SDCC announcements was a Batman: Arkham Origins Grapnel accessory prop replica, which will be sold exclusively through Gamestop. This life size prop replica is currently available for pre-order.

The exclusive Grapnel prop replica is billed as being fully spring loaded and motorized. The prop comes with two different hook attachments for customization, each with articulated hinges. The spring-loaded function is allegedly strong enough to shoot out several feet when the trigger is squeezed, after which a sliding switch can be pulled to activate an internal motorized spool the retracts the cord attached to the hook.

Unbelievably awesome doesn't begin to describe this replica.

NECA's Batman: Arkham Origins Grapnel prop replica is currently available for pre-order for US$35 on Gamestop's website as well as at select retail stores. It's slated to release this October, coinciding with the launch of the latest installment in the Batman: Arkham series, Batman: Arkham Origins.
