Some new images have been released of Autobot leader Optimus Prime, this time in all of his upcoming Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon glory. Finally, we get to see some trailer! Any Prime without a trailer has no right to bear the Prime name. Optimus, Ultra Magnus, and Rodimus had all shown that that part of being a badass leader was to haul a heavy, semi-useful load in tow. Maybe it was a their way to show off?
So, I'm a bit torn on this one. I think the main Optimus figure is actually a pretty nice looking robot, there's some nice curves and dimensions to it. That's a lot coming from me, as I'm a G1 design purist. Also, Optimus seems to have been doing some P90X mega-crunches, as his abs are just out of control.
I'm glad the trailer is being used for more than a gun-pod or command center, but exo-suit? Is Optimus getting all Ripley on us? This is reminding me of the upcoing Haruhi bunny-bot a bit too much. It really looks like he's on stilts. At least with Ultra Mangus G1 there was a little helmet that scaled head on the robot. There is some serious Fist of the North Star small head syndrome going on here. The "wings" on the exo-trailer have a nice Gundam feel to them, I hope at some point in the film Optimus harness the power of the sun, or something to justify their hugeness.
What do you guys think? Anyone getting excited for the upcoming movie and the new figures? I'm a bit jaded after the last one, but I loved the first one enough to have a glimmer of hope. I only have one question, How come Roller just never gets any love?
