DO WANT: August 2011 Edition

4:00 PM on 08.31.2011 // Brian Szabelski

Well folks, it's that time of the month again: DO WANT is here! The editors have assembled and made their picks known. This month is back to school time. Did you bring your toys with you to college? (The correct answer is always yes.)

In this month's installment:

  • - TINY HATS!
  • - Is it over 9,000? I think it is.
  • - Video game figures are everywhere!
  • - Where's the mecha?

And more! Well, what are you waiting for? Let's check out what everyone loves this month!

Brian Szabelski wants the ClariS Petit Nendoroids

TINY HATS! No, seriously, these two are just adorable. Considering my original pick got pre-ordered, this will do nicely.

Leah Bayer wants Alter's Elia Juutilainen

Eila is my favorite Witch, and Alter's version of her is jaw-droppingly beautiful. The atmosphere is just so perfect, and Alter pulled out their usual top-notch sculpting. I'm just hoping they re-release Sanya to go with her (and maybe Yoshika too!) as I missed the first two girls in this series!

Philip Lee wants Max Factory's Samus figma and Zero Suit Samus statue (the ones you probably weren't supposed to see yet)

Undeniably amazing! I have yet to venture into the Metroid universe of collecting, but the Zero Suit Samus figure is pulling me in, hook, line and sinker. While we've had a similar blue, tightly suited femme with Kotobukiya's Sue Storm, this figure certainly is not attributed with pink eye or hair twirl. If looking at a video game based toy makes you want to play it's related video game, then it's a darn good toy!

Rio McCarthy wants Disney's Lion King Vinylmations

I may already have 3, but I'd LOVE to get my hands on the rest of the set! This is my favorite of the Vinylmation series to have been released so far, so I'd love to have a full collection one day soon. In the meantime I'll keep working on my ROAR! :D

Chris Pranger still wants Bandai's S.H. Figuarts Vegeta

Is it any surprise that I'm still not over my love of S.H Figurarts Vegeta? I want to say I mentioned this last month, and yet I'm still not done yet. I was already heartbroken once that it was already sold out, but that doesn't seem to be the case everywhere. Perhaps there is still hope for me yet! My custom Beast action figure needs a worthy opponent, and who worthier than the Prince of all Saiyans? The table is set, now let us begin!

Chris Seto wants Queens Gate Noel Vermillion

Even more so than the Samus figures (which I also want!), I really REALLY want to see a good figure of Noel Vermillion from Blazblue. Not only is it pretty much my favourite fighting game at the moment, she's my fave character as well!! I have confidence that she'll turn out nicely seeing as the previous Queens Gate figures have all been pretty good. If they get Alter to do the honours as a collaboration, that would be perfect! BLOOM TRIGGER!!!

Jackie Zysk wants ESC-Toy's Mermadi

My DO WANT has gotta be ESCToy's Mermadi. This figure just combines everything I love about designer toys and adds a dash of childhood dreams into the mix. Seriously, I can't think of much else to say about this that I didn't say previously, and I totally would have picked her up if I hadn't had to set my cash aside for other things this month. And now that she's sold out, this DO WANT may never become a GET, but a girl can dream right?

And so ends another monthly installment of DO WANT from the Tomopop staff. But what about you, Tomopop readers? What do you want from the past month? Hit the comments below and make your voices heard!
