The BLAMO Toys booth at this year's DesignerCon showcased Mikie Graham's Zombie Art Project along with the the limited edition Green Glow-in-the-Dark version of the Chochinobake (those lil' lantern ghost dudes). Let me tell you, the Z.A.P., while impressive, did not hold a candle, at least in my perspective, to the new Chochinobake. Mikie was kind enough to open the display case so I may get a better look at them. They were nothing short of beautiful. I did my best with the photos but they still could not do the guy justice. I'm not sure what sort of spell they cast over the vinyl but it truly looked like some ethereal being had popped its ghostly limbs out of a decaying lantern. The details, such as the flickering candle inside the ghost's mouth and the inky smudge marks around the mouth, really show the love and effort that went into the Chochinobake's design.

It was great fun meeting Mikie as well as seeing these fabulous pieces of art. I wish the Chochinobake would haunt my toy shelf. But, alas.
