Death to False Vinyl: Kid Robot's backlash to Taco Bell and you can benefit photo

According to the KRonikle, tomorrow, Friday, September 4th Kid Robot will be hosting a Death to False Vinyl event from 11:30am to 1:30pm at Houston & Lafayette, just off Broadway in New York City. It was only a matter of time before there was backlash against Taco Bell's newest kids meal promotion Bellhedz, and you can benefit from it.

Tomorrow they will be giving away over a thousand Dunnys to show what a real vinyl toy is, and to host a protest against the Bellhedz. Be sure to wear your "Death to False Vinyl" shirts and join in on their rally. It'll be two hours of free giveaways with Dunnys, stickers, and more until they run out of goodies to give away. As they say "Friends don't let friends collect crappy toys."

Legacy Comments

This seems a bit juvenile to me. If Kid Robot thinks it has a case about Taco Bell ripping off it's designs, take them to court. If they're just pissed off about some super corp. jumping on their bandwagon... well, that sucks for you and all, but you're just drawing more attention to it.

On the other hand, free stuff! Though personally none of these appeal to me.
I think this is a brilliant decision by Kidrobot. They're going to get some press off of this which draws attention to them. They're going to be able to use the Bellhedz as a de facto national campaign. All they have to do is get the word out in advance of Taco Bell's promotion. This seems like a cheap way to get themselves into that position.
I don't really care either way.
Just seems odd to me that they're doing it only in a couple of stores. I would think that if a company was that angry and really wanted to attract people, you would do it at each of your stores, especially when I can count each of them on my hands.

This screams to me of whining that now its popular and our niche is now mainstream. Like Donsolo pointed out, if this was a major thing for KR, there'd be lawsuit and not a PR stunt. If anything, I'd like to get my hands on a Bellhedz and customize the hell out of it just out of spite for such stunts.
Yeah it honestly doesn't bother me either way. Yeah, ripping off a person's style does suck, but at least I can afford the Bellhedz :P
Ugh, I'm not fond of the Bellhedz. I don't really mind the Vinyl toy scene going mainstream. I have no problem with Target getting into it. The problem is that Taco Bell blatantly ripped off Dunnys and Fatcaps.
This kind of seems a lot to go for just for kids toys at a fast food joint, especially since the toy won't be offered there forever.
Taco Bell menu items are cheaper than Kidrobot items.
TACO BELL BOYCOTT WEEK 2
My heart goes out to all of the people at Kid Robot that MIKKO MERONEN OF STROTTMAN ripped off. Several industry sources have confirmed that Kid Robot has issued a cease and desist letter to Taco Bell, and Taco Bell has been cooperative. I have received thousands of emails from people joining the boycott until Taco Bell removes all Bell Hedz from all locations. The public is tired of corporate scandals where big companies pick on the small guy. Taco Bell has an opportunity to do the right thing here. First, they need to issue a public apology and remove all Bell Hedz. Second, they need to settle with Kid Robot. Finally, they need to show that they do not associate with companies that rip people off and hurt their livelyhoods. The Taco Bell investors will be hurt by the fallout of this as well, similar to the Bernie Madoff investors. MIKKO MERONEN AND STROTTMAN have been around long enough to know how badly this will hurt Kid Robot. Yet, they had no creative ideas of their own and ripped them off. On their website it says they understand what motivates and inspires kids. Is teaching kids to steal motivating and inspiring? MIKKO MERONEN thinks so. Finally, here is my advice to the STROTTMAN employees that keep trying to save their jobs by writing comments on here. It's time to dust off your resume and make a run for the border!
Hah, that'd teach em.
