If DC Collectibles' latest batch of pre-orders looks familiar, it's probably because you saw them in our NYCC coverage. These pre-orders include Vertigo Cover Girls Death, the Frank Miller metallic Superman statue, a Booster Gold bust, and a New 52 Green Arrow action figure.
The rarely-seen Death is easily among my favorite female comic book characters so naturally I was excited to see this new Vertigo Cover Girls statue at NYCC (pictured). For the less comic-aware, Death was introduced in Neil Gaimon's acclaimed Sandman series. Rather than being a gloomy grim reaper, Gaimon's Death was a peppy, upbeat "youth" and sister to the eponymous Sandman, Dream of the Endless. The Vertigo Cover Girls rendition of the character features a wistful expression, a nonchalant pose, and a strange bird on her back. Although I might not be quite as enamored by this statue as at first glance, it still seems to well-capture the character's likeness.
The Booster Gold bust was another NYCC item that caught my eye. While admittedly a lesser known superhero (appearances in Justice League Unlimited, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and even Smallville notwithstanding), Booster Gold has a significant cult due to his humor and back-story (he's a loser from the future whom decides to go back in time to be a superhero). The bust features a dynamically posed Booster atop a future-looking base.
We previously discussed the rather horrid-looking Frank Miller Superman statue. Frank Miller's Superman design may be something of an acquired taste but even the pose seems bizarre. Finally we have the New 52 Green Arrow figure. His new costume seems less extreme than some of the other revamps, as he seems to have mostly picked up some armored bits.
All of these items are slated for a February 2013 release, but do any pique your interest?
