It's no secret that I'm a Darkseid fan. However, since I don't actively follow comics, DC Collectibles' new Deluxe figure is the first time that I'm seeing him in his "New 52" look and I have to say that, while somewhat odd, I still like it. The figure is a bit of a different story.
I'm also a little confused since I thought DC Collectibles wasn't unveiling this figure until SDCC. At any rate, judging by the picture it doesn't look like he's going to have a ton of articulation as he's noticeably lacking in a few areas. I find this both surprising and disappointing, given their work on the Deluxe Killer Croc which was revealed to have fairly decent ankle articulation. Given that Darkseid allegedly has a MSRP of US$90 (albeit for sale on BBTS for US$75), these things are a bit less forgivable. That said, supposedly the Deluxe Darkseid is going to be 13-inches tall so he might deserve at least a little leeway.
While the pricing and articulation mean that I'm probably not going to be getting this one, I can't help but admire the craftsmanship. The sculpting is great in places and overall the Deluxe Darkseid seems like an incredible-looking figure. He's definitely something I'd love to own but just not at that price. For those of you who do intend on buying him, Darkseid is due out this December.

And because Darkseid needs company, why not pre-order some of DC Collectibles' "New 52" styled Parademons? They're a bit more affordable. You could army-build with them, really go nuts.
