Cris Rose has some more Sprog news for his fans, and we thought we'd share it, too. First, there's the news about this year's Robotones. Out are open runs for each month, due to some limitations on what Cris will be able to do in the upcoming months; he's sharing his studio space with Lunabee starting in March and will be collaborating with her on new creations. However, what's in are subscriptions for the Robotone series.

How it'll work is as follows: Cris is offering up 10 subscriptions for 2013, with each subscriber guaranteed a Robotone of each color this year. Plus, they get a bonus exclusive Robotone and a say in one of the sculpts decided on for 2013. Then there's more bonuses for shipping, payments, a 12th Robotone if you pay for the whole thing upfront, and the exclusive option to have a unique Robotone customized.

They'll be US$45 in a larger size and smaller run numbers, because the only ones available will be those that subscribers don't get first. To subscribe, e-mail Cris, and check after the jump for a full detailed list of benefits. The first Robotone release is March 7 in the Cris Rose shop starting at 6 p.m. GMT (1 p.m. Eastern, 10 a.m. Pacific).

Second, Wednesday brings a new custom Sprog release: the Mk2 Maintenance Sprogs. These are the Mk2 versions of Renold, Rigel and Radcliffe, which are bigger, beefier bots than their predecessors (you can see it compared above with the Renold Mk1 and Rotund Mk2). They'll be US$65 in the Cris Rose shop starting at 6 p.m. GMT (1 p.m. Eastern, 10 a.m. Pacific).

2013 Robotone subscription benefits list:

  • Guaranteed Robotone of each color
  • A vote in which sculpt is chosen for 2013
  • A free 11th colour Robotone
  • The option to ship every month; every 3 months; or in 2 packages every 6 months.
  • The exclusive option to commission the unique Robotone Sculpt as one-off, fully painted customs. This is the only way to get the unique sculpt.
  • Payment options of all in one go; or half every 6 months
  • A free, 12th Robotone if you pay for it all upfront

To subscribe, e-mail Cris the following:
