Capitalism is awesome, Amiami opens up for international orders photo

The Japanese retailer Amiami should be very familiar with Tomopop readers. Known as the #1 retailer in Japan for figures and a great spot to find new figures, they've decided to throw open their doors to the international market for the first time. The prices are still the same and exclusives will be available on the site. Only shipping method so far will be EMS, but the discounts that Amiami offers should help to offset that.

As for my random curiosity, I wonder what this will mean for a lot of other sites. For as long as anyone can remember, we've pretty much been held at retail price while crying at seeing Japanese-only sites offering discounts that we could not get. Will the other sites start offering discounts of this sort of nature? The PG Gundam Double O Raiser is going for only 18,200 yen instead of 25,000 yen. That translates to about $80 off. I think I know where I'm going to pre-order from now on.

Most excellent!!
Truly a day to rejoice.
Oh. So it IS something new. Wonder when this launched. Anyhoo, wah hah! No more worry about exclusives! ... minus event only and magazine only ones... But it's a start!
its a little slow to update (since the Nendoroid Ristu should be out for preorder already but its not listed) but its damn cheap! I was comparing the prices between it and Hobby Search and the difference is indeed there.
Just placed an order for 6 of the 7 things I have on preorder at HLJ. They beat the prices easily about 6-11 bucks on each. Now I just need HLJ to finish their maintenance so I can get in an cancel...

Only accepting Paypal at the moment too, but I can deal with that for the savings.
FUCK YEAH! And just in time to get my K-On Figures :D
great news! everything is about 15% cheaper than competitors...

and they carry CROWS figures!

i wonder if other stores will adjust their prices in response...

just re-pre-ordered a bunch of items...

now time to do some mass canceling at other places...
hmm I'll have to see how their service is first before jumping in. I've pre ordered a lot of things on hobby search which I'm pretty happy with at the moment. If they have something that hobby search or Otacute doesn't have I'll jump onto Amiami.
This is awesome news, I just grabbed a couple things on sale that I would otherwise never been willing to pick up. Now they just need to offer some cheaper shipping and I'll be dancing on rooftops...
This is from their FAQ ...

"Order cancellation is, in principle, not accepted."

"All orders are basically irrevocable."

And this from their "Ordering Notice" (disclaimer when you look at your shopping cart) ...

"* All orders are irrevocable. If you have important questions regarding items, shipping fees or our policies, please ask us by e-mail before placing an order. "

... FYI
I'm pretty satisfied with HLJ, but if AmiAmi delivers their goods in a timely fashion like HLJ, I may purchase more stuff from them.
I just changed three pre-orders to amiami. Two from HLJ, and one from Hobby Search. Total combined savings?? $46USD. Enough to buy another figure ;D Now I just hope they come through ...
D'oh! I didn't cancel my Raspberryl Nendoroid on time from HLJ; it's now processed for shipping. It looks like I'll have an extra Raspberryl in a few days. Ugh.
I would re-pre-order Nendoroid Luka here, but Otacute doesn't allow you to cancel pre-orders.
Question is, do they allow merging orders?

The main reason I place all my preorders on HobbySearch is that I can put all the releases of a single month into a single shipment. That saves a lot of money in EMS shipping.

Check out the FAQ, http://www.amiami.com/shop?vgform=SimpleForm&tid=12498c09181&template=e_faq.html&set=english, under "Placing Orders."
I noticed. Good news! I'll give them a try and hope that their system is as flexible as HobbySearch's order recombination =)
the order combination sounds confusing as hell and rearranging items seems impossible...

i tend to preorder items as they become available and not wait til the end of month and order all in one big lump...

still... the prices are worth the trouble...
I still prefer proxy service like http://twitter.com/Yokattaweb since I can combine order for months and use SAL instead of EMS on top of that.
I dont like their "all orders are irrevocable" policy. That sounds really crappy.
