Can't pick your family but you can pick your Minimates

9:00 PM on 06.18.2012 // Scarecroodle

Between a brand new Toys R Us poll and the 10th Anniversary poll, these days it seems like there are a lot of choices as to which Minimates will be made. And everybody knows that choices can hard and/or confusing. To make matters worse, recent scientific data I just made up suggests that thinking may be one of the leading causes of migraines. So I'm going to do you a favor and tell you to just vote Scarlet Witch in that Toys 'R' Us poll.

What? Your other choices? Why would you want those? Well, in the upcoming Toys 'R' Us exclusive Avengers vs X-Men set you could also vote for the following non-Scarlet Witch choices in the forms of Protector, Phoenix-Buster Iron Man (with basic Iron Man underneath) and Phoenix-powered versions of Cyclops, Emma Frost and Colossus.

Although you have six choices in the Toys R Us poll, you only get one vote (unless you vote again, which I think you can) and the four most popular characters will be included in the set (although it'll most likely be two characters from each team). Concept images for these characters are available in the gallery. The poll itself will run until July 14.

After the jump I'll briefly recap the 10th Anniversary poll.

As you might recall, back when I was just a Tomopop user, I discussed the Minimates 10th Anniversary poll. At that point only the first two weeks were live but since then, weeks 3 (villains) and 4 (minions) have gone by without me mentioning anything. Remember: the polls are still open for all four weeks, you can vote for 2 characters in any given week, and the top one or two winners for each week will get a figure made (with some possibly getting variants).

The villain (week 3) selection consists of Onslaught, a new bulkier Apocalypse, Mojo, Baron Strucker, Baron Zemo II, a new bulkier Abomination, Wrecker, and Vengeance. Personally, I'm intrigued by Onslaught, especially if it includes the conversion for both forms. I have no strong feelings on the second pick although Mojo or a new Apocalypse would be neat.

The final week was devoted to army-builders, which I was hoping would be more along the lines of minions, lackeys, and troops. Surprisingly the selection instead included things like the Stepford Cuckoos/Sisters and a classic-styled Multiple Man. So basically, I felt a little let down. The choices are HAMMER Agents, Mindless Ones, Nova Corps, War Wolves, the Stepford Cuckoos/Sisters, classic Multiple Man, dire wraiths, and Mandroids. While nothing there thrills me (and a few of them I'm not really familiar with), it's hard to imagine that the HAMMER Agent and Multiple Man won't win.

Unlike the Toys 'R' Us poll, there don't seem to be concepts available for these characters. On the lighter side, the 10th Anniversary poll is at least a real poll given the number of choices available. I can't help but shake the feeling that it doesn't really matter whether or not you vote in the Toys R Us poll because Scarlet Witch, Phoenix Buster Iron Man, Cyclops, and Emma are the most likely winners given the limited selection.

Is anybody else rooting for a specific character?

What is a Scarecroodle? ~It's a catchier and more memorable name than Scarecrow, which is generally taken anyway. Scarecrow, being a fear-related villain with a catchy costume, is probably one ... more   |   staff directory
