Billing itself as the world's first 3-D webcam, "Minoru" here looks like something taken right out of WALL-E. The maker, Novo, claims it works with just about any online video program, and is as simple to hook up as plugging the USB cable into your PC, just like any other webcam.
Of course, in true melodramatic fashion, that's where the similarities end! Minoru apparently uses its eyes, placed similarly to a human's, to see its viewpoint in 3-D with actual depth like a normal person might. With straight-from-the-80s 3-D glasses included, the viewer can watch the webcam's feed with all the depth as if they were actually there.
I'm a little skeptical on whether or not this all works, to be honest. It sounds interesting, but I can't help wondering what the actual image ends up looking like. If it manages true 3-D, like films these days are doing, it'll certainly be pretty cool. I shudder to think about the multitude of camwhore sites viewed through Minoru, though. With any luck, the $89.99 pricetag will keep at least some of them at bay.
