Bring the fight home with Marvel vs Capcom 3 statuesHollywood Collectibles Group wants to help your video game fights spill over into your home with their new 1/4 scale Marvel vs Capcom 3 Doctor Doom and Akuma statues. They're now available for pre-order individually (at some sites) but are meant to be "teamed up" as one massive US$650 set. Both statues look solid. Doom is around 21.5-inches tall and has a typical imposing stance with a slight billowing effect on his cape. In start contrast, the 19-inch Akuma is ready for action in a fighting stance. As much as I like the look of the statues, I can't help but feel that there's nothing distinctly "Marvel vs Capcom" about them. In fact, because their character designs weren't greatly changed for MvC3, both characters somewhat resemble the more affordable statues that we've seen other companies produce in the past (again making me wonder why they didn't choose a character with a more game-specific appearance like Sentinel). I suppose the only real MvC3 aspect is bundling the two statues together but that's really more of a gimmicky upsell than a genuine attempt at theme. If only one of these statues piques your interest, you can thank retailers like Big Bad Toy Store for breaking up the sets into individual sales (even if they're charging a little more individually). Personally I can't imagine that I'll be picking up either one. How about you? [ Pre-order Akuma | Doctor Doom | Both from Big Bad Toy Store ]
