I love love love old crime fiction. Raymond Chandler's Philip Marlowe is my own personal savior, and I adore Dashiel Hammett. Dashiell's The Maltese Falcon was made into multiple movies- the best of which starred Humphrey Bogart as Private Investigator Sam Spade. Such a heartlessly cool cat. In the beginning of the novel/flick his partner gets murdered, but Sam just shrugs it off. Now he doesn't have to worry about his pal discovering that he's sleeping with his wife!
