#figurefridaychallenge - Flowers

For this week, the topic is Flowers.

What goes better together than flowers and PVC! Hopefully we're finally out of the cold weather and into something that can be considered warm enough for flowering season. Sorry southern hemisphere folks. You'll have to wait till your spring.

Regardless, there's always the flower store... or the neighbor's garden, who's flowers always seem to be growing much better than yours. Just don't trample on them too much.

#figurefridaychallenge - Square Crop

For this week, the topic is the Square Crop.

Cropping is an art form. Figuring out how a good crop can enhance a photo requires a keen eye and a determination to know what and how you want to focus.

The challenge for this week is a square crop. A 1:1 aspect ratio, otherwise know as everything-on-Instagram. Feel free to breath new life into an old photo with a new crop. It's quite interesting to see how the mood of a photo can change just by purposefully cropping in and out elements.

#figurefridaychallenge - Open Challenge [+ April Event]

For this week, the topic is an Open Challenge.

And it feels like Spring just came and went. Looks like the last call for coats, jackets, and heavier clothing. Well, except for those in that other hemisphere...

Have fun with an open challenge and let us know of any topics you want to see in the future. We've already made some adjustments to the schedule based on feedback: http://goo.gl/6nZZG

Have fun!

#figurefridaychallenge - Season: Spring

For this week, the topic is Season: Spring.

Is it finally Spring? It's a season that's often times skipped over or one that never seems to come. Either way, you get to pretend like it's Spring (even if it's Fall for some of you).

Perhaps some flowers. Perhaps some less heavy attire. Maybe just a lot of new greenery. Showcase what's happening with Spring in your area (or what you want to happen with Spring).

Oh, and Reddit's AnimeFigures subreddit had Spring as their challenge for last week so be sure to check out their results as well: http://goo.gl/YGjwQX

Have fun!

#figurefridaychallenge - Nails / Fingers

For this week, the topic is Nails / Fingers.

As LeVar Bouyer mentions, this may be a touch specific, but then again, picking out and finding specific details of a well done figure are always a nice find. When a sculpt can take into account the detail level all the way down to the individual digits of the finger, and even down the nail polish on the finger tips, that's something worth noting.

Time to take that closer look and show us what you find.

Have fun!

#figurefridaychallenge - Four

For this week, the topic is Four.

The numbers are climbing. For those that have a coherent set of 4 characters, that shouldn't be a problem. For the rest, you're going to have to start getting creative with how to represent these numbers.

If you keep thinking too literally, it can be the death of you.

Have fun!

#figurefridaychallenge - Open Challenge [+ March Event]

For this week, the topic is an Open Challenge.

Spring is supposed to be right around the corner right? Or is there still snow left (or coming) where you are? Feel free to shoot what you like for this month's Open Challenge. Let us know if you have a topic in mind and we may use it for an upcoming challenge :).

An open challenge as usual for the end of the month, so feel free to pick a topic (or ignore a topic) and show us some interesting photos :).

Have fun!

#figurefridaychallenge - Legs

For this week, the topic is Legs.

I'm actually surprised we hadn't run across this topic yet. And I guess by we, I mean I hadn't formally logged it as a challenge.

So here you go. This should be a pretty universal topic that should apply to every figure. And for those for which it doesn't apply, that can be an extra interesting challenge to make it apply.

Have fun!

#figurefridaychallenge - Jars

For this week, the topic is Jars.

Well, I have no clue what I was thinking when this topic came about. I'm not even sure why I would pick this without a source image in mind or if it was suggested (though I have no record it was).

But such is life. This is what you get to try now. Do something with jars. Anything. Maybe it's something like below. Maybe it's with Photoshop. I'm sure you can get creative. See if you can figure it out.

* As much as I tried to find a legitimate source for this, it seems to have been lost in time. The link in the credits shows this photo as part of a collection, some of which the related photos only appear there, so I'll give them credit for it. #figurefridaychallenge - Three

For this week, the topic is Three.

So by now it should be around time to start noticing a trend. One and Two are fairly easy. Three starts to require a little more thought, and I can only hope it will get a little more interesting from here on out.

But for this time, let's see how you can work in a "3" into this week's challenge.

#figurefridaychallenge - Open Challenge [+ February Event]

For this week, the topic is an Open Challenge.

The weather is still wreaking havoc all over the place. Some areas are in a deep Winter, others are pretty much Spring. Senjougahara though seems to be more in a Fall mood.

An open challenge as usual for the end of the month, so feel free to pick a topic (or ignore a topic) and show us some interesting photos :).

#figurefridaychallenge - Camera Phone

For this week, the topic is Camera Phone.

It's rare to repeat a topic unless it's something seasonal, but rules are made to be broken. It should be interesting to see if camera quality has improved over a year.

So, depending on the quality of the camera on your phone, you can take pictures that rival DSLR photos or you can create some interesting depth and warmth via the inherent quality limitations of your phone's camera. Either way, feel free to experiment and figure out what photos your camera phone can take.

As it was with last year's challenge, this one should be a no-excuses one :)

Have fun!
