About me

What is a Scarecroodle?
~It's a catchier and more memorable name than Scarecrow, which is generally taken anyway. Scarecrow, being a fear-related villain with a catchy costume, is probably one of my all-time favorite villains (just not the movie version).

Beyond that, I'm just an average white guy in the age 24~36 bracket.

What does a Scarecroodle like?
~I love fighting games, platformers, horror, and anime. I also collect a lot of Marvel/DC stuff, but most of that interest stems from the old cartoons/movies and the comic interest only came because I thought some of the figures looked insane. Figure-wise, I think the 6\" scale is probably the ideal size for figures. At that size they can make nice display pieces, sick detail, and joints that don't break (like in the crappy smaller scales).

I'm also a massive fan of the really small scales because it usually allows for a lot of incredible-looking scenery (check out stuff like Warhammer, etc). I would love to really get into sculpting, but I'm kinda clumsy which doesn't work well when things need to be exact.

I'd really like to get into statues (because the detailing and paint is usually good), but the pricing is more than a little daunting and you don't get as much variety out of them whereas figures can be posed into elaborate set-ups or whatever.

Just saw this bad mamma-jamma up on BBTS today:

I'm guessing that they jumped the gun (as usual) and it's probably a photo taken right from Toy Fair. Regardless that's some sweet head. While the Marvel Legends Nightcrawler is doubtlessly superior in the articulation department (TWO torso joints, one ab crunch, and a waist joint, iirc) I never quite liked the face on it. The MS one clearly hits that ball out of the park, though, despite the ears being a little big for my taste. I mean, what is this, a bad Obama caricature?

Ears aside, the face has a strong daemonic vibe to it and jives with the claims that people are frightened by Nightcrawler's appearance. His eyes almost seem to glow. The bodysculpting is fairly strong but the articulation is decidedly so-so. The lithe, acrobatic Nightcrawler seems an awkward character selection for a line not known for articulation. I will be curious to see whether that tail is molded with a flexible wire and if the head has full upward motion.

I'm also curious as to what he'll get in the way of accessories / display items. You can see a purplish BAMF! effect by his feet and I can't help but wonder if he'll get an array of styles. If so, he'd likely become a must-own for all fans except the hardcore displayists who craft their own effects.
