Beat the drums and prepare a blonde sacrifice for Kong

A brunette simply won't do!

Bandai's much hyped (mostly by me) S.H. MonsterArts King Kong is now up for pre-order. The MonsterArts Kong, based on the character's appearance in Peter Jackson's King Kong, offers some fairly versatile display options as well as three possible faces.

Unfortunately, the pre-order doesn't list him as coming with some accessories displayed at previous conventions although he seems to at least get a branch. That said, Kong sets something of a benchmark in being the first S.H.MonsterArts figure to include alternate head/face parts (yes, MechaGodzilla has an alternate head as well but it was packaged with Fire Rodan). In addition to the choice of three faces (standard passive, angry, and playful), Kong seems to include alternate hand bits in the form of closed fists, open hands, knuckle-dragging hands, and an item-grasping clenched hand. The closed fists are perfect for displaying the character beating his chest in a display of ape macho-ness.

Bandai's S.H.MonsterArts King Kong will make a great display piece, if only as something to face down previously giant mutant lizards. He's slated for an April release and has a ¥5775 list price.
