Arkiv's Aftermath exhibition opens at TAG on Saturday photo

Toy Art Gallery is playing host this Saturday night, Aug. 4, to Aftermath, a solo exhibition featuring new works from Arkiv Vilmansa. For this show, Arkiv is bringing along some new paintings, customized Vans sneakers, limited edition prints and shirts, and most important to us, a life-sized version of his Libertine figure, made from fiberglass. The show's subtitle, "A Journey to Wounderland", hints about the theme: it's a look at a world Arkiv's created where global warming's effects have birthed a new animal kingdom ... and a slightly darker world.

Arkiv will be in attendance for the opening from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Pacific at TAG (7571 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles). The show runs through Aug. 22, when it'll move on and make way for the next show, Mr Clement's Lapin World Tour LA. I would love to see that life-size Libertine piece; I can only imagine how big it'll be!

ACen 2013: Bandai/Bluefin part 2

It's funny how being around a lot of something can make me want that thing. I never figured myself to be big on Gunpla, as I was never into Gundam. But seeing all the various model kits on display at Bluefin's booth was enoug...

ACen 2013: Athena's Wink

This isn't what we usually cover, but it is hand-crafted collectible merchandise so I thought creations of Athena's Wink are worth taking a look at. Their booth was run by Carolann Voltarel and Carrie Wink, who spend a lot of...

ACen: Good Smile Company shows off more Miku

Good Smile Company had a lot of products on display at ACen this year. My favorite of which was Deep Sea Miku but their Nendoroid Racing Miku is pretty sweet. It looks like she has semi translucent hair and with the car and u...
