First halloween plushes, now the Mighty Eagle? Angry Birds and Commonwealth seem determined to see that I am broke come November. For those in the know, the Mighty Eagle is the leader of the bird team as well as an in-app purchase in Angry Birds and Angry Birds Seasons. He only appears as a speeding silhouette in-game but for a limited time, you have a chance to own him in all of his plushie glory. How "limited" are we talking here? BigBadToyStore sold out of pre-orders last night. As far as I can tell, ToyWiz is the last store to carry it. They are due to be shipped out at the end of October at a price of US$99.
"Wait," you may wonder, "what about the official Angry Birds store? Surely, if it is a legit product, they would carry it there as well." That is a good point. However, they don't mention the Mighty Eagle anywhere on the site. So, how do we know it is not one of the many knock-offs flooding the marketplace? Well, for one thing, the product description says it is made by Commonwealth, the manufacturer of the other Angry Birds plushes. The other reason is that in March 2011, Peter Verterbacka, the CMO of Rovio, mentioned in an article that they were planning on bringing out giant Mighty Eagle plushes later in the year. This must be them.
This leads us to the "giant" part of the description. The Mighty Eagle stands at a mighty 16". I guess if he can single-handedly destroy an entire level of radioactive piggies (how else did they get so green?) then he must be enormous. Still, 16" sounds like perfect cuddling-size to me. What say you, Tomopeople? Too big? Or maybe too much Angry Birds?
