Alphamax's 1/8th cold cast Ryomou preview photo

A few preview photos of the upcoming Ikkitousen: Great Guardians Ryomou Shimei by Alphamax have been released. While she's beautiful and all, I can't help but compare her to the recent Shunyama kit of the same character which we saw the other week. Don't get me wrong, Alphamax did a great job here, but it doesn't quite pop the same way Shunya Yamashita's design did.

Of course, I'm sure you're tired of hearing us sing his praises, and I don't blame you. He's gotten quite popular these days, and while I don't feel he's over-saturated the market, I could understand why some of you might feel that way. Any ways, rather than continue down that road, let's just finish talking about this Ryomou here.

While this isn't the costume you usually find her in, I think it's a welcome change to see her without the handcuffs and maid outfit for once. The socks are a really nice touch too, but what I probably love most about the figure is lovely glow her make-up gives off. It really adds a touch of warmth that you don't usually see from her character, who is usually portrayed as stand-offish and rude. This lovely PVC cold cast figure should be available sometime this September for roughly $135.

Legacy Comments

This is an ok figure but really I think 'ok' is just not good enough when it comes to Ikkitosen anymore. It really has to be something stunning to stand out. I really don't know how the market can support another 'tosen figure. Then again they keep making them so someone must be buying them!
I actually prefer this over the Yamashita version, tho that could just be my anti-shunya Yamashita streak showing there.
Neither are particularly great at portraying the character, but I get the feeling that this one is a little closer.
I'm with Shadow Mountain....the Yamashita version is the end all be all Ikki Tousen figure to me.
To be perfectly honest, I don't really care to see characters portrayed the way they're supposed to be. To me, there's nothing unique about that. I love seeing fresh new takes on pre-existing characters. Also, as much as an otaku as I may seem--I write for Japanator as well after all--I'd rather see my figures have a tad bit more realism.
