A closer look at DST's Universal Monsters series 3 photo

As seen at SDCC, the third wave of Diamond Select Toys' Universal Monsters line will include the Phantom of the Opera, the Metaluna Mutant (This Island Earth), and the Invisible Man. Both the Phantom and the Metaluna Mutant will receive a general release while all three will have a Toys "R" Us exclusive version.

The Phantom's general release is going to be the unmasked version (seen in the header) which will include his iconic pipe organ. The masked version, which also features a hat and jacket, will be a Toys "R" Us exclusive which includes a violin with music stand (instead of the pipe organ). Given the seemingly minor differences, one has to wonder why they couldn't have just included the alternate parts with both versions.

The Metaluna Mutant will be the same figure for both configurations. However, the general release comes with the Interocitor (the device that allows humans to contact the Metalunans). No accessories are listed for the Toys "R" Us exclusive although I'd assume it will at least come with a stand.

The Invisible Man will be a Toys "R" Us exclusive and feature his bandaged face with goggles and a fake nose. It also seems to come with a reasonably nice base.

The general release for these figures have a MSRP of US$21.99 while the MSRP for Toys "R" Us versions is generally a bit cheaper (around US$15) because they're smaller configurations that come with fewer items. These figures should release some time in the Fall.
