It's been a while since Transformers Go! ended, both the figure line and the anime series, so everyone is a little surprise to see that Kabaya is planning a series of candy toys based on the toy line's Swordbot Samurai team. ...

SDCC 2014: October Toys

SDCC 2014: A first look at Tamashii Buddies photo
SDCC 2014: A first look at Tamashii Buddies
by Brian Szabelski

Bluefin and Tamashii Nations set aside a corner display at their booth to show off the new Tamashii Buddies line. It's a series of 3.5-inch trading figures, each coming with a unique backdrop and base to display them on, which are apparently also stackable so you can display them on top of each other on your shelving.

The figures themselves look to have the same quality as their bigger counterparts in the Figuarts Zero line, and so far both Dragonball/Dragonball Z and Sailor Moon have been announced. Sailor Moon was the only figure on display from her series, while Dragonball fans can look forward to the likes of Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta, Trunks, Freeza, Broly, Cell, Super Saiyan Gohan and even Kid Goku from the original series. That last one is the one I know I want!

You'll have to wait until November for the Tamashii Buddies to become available in Japan, and presumably a little longer after that for a North American release.

SDCC 2014: Mattel's Minecraft mini-figures

If you have a slightly uncontrollable love of Minecraft, as I sometimes think I do, then it was perhaps interesting to see a little Minecraft section at Mattel's SDCC booth. Inside that section was a little "chest" you c...

New Cup no Sokoko figures come up flat

Welcome back to the weird side of Japanese figures. Not the shocking or eyebrow raising side, just the weird side. Artist Katsuki Tanaka and pretty darn bizarre company in its own right Kitan Club have once again produce...

Watch the vacuum around these extra tiny Kamen Rider figures

LEGO shows preview of their Simpsons minifigure series photo
LEGO shows preview of their Simpsons minifigure series
by Vanessa Cubillo

After seeing LEGO’s version of The Simpsons’ house, I was excited to see what else would come out in this line. Now we have a look at their latest Simpsons minifigure series. Posted on their Facebook, there are 16 classic characters from the show included.

So you’ll see Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge, Maggie, Itchy, Scratchy, Krusty, Nelson, Milhouse, Apu, Chief Wiggum, Mr. Burns, Ralph, Grandpa and Flanders. Each figure will come with an accessory that’s true to their character. Lisa has her saxophone, Maggie has Mr. Burns’ teddy bear, and Ralph Wiggum has his valentine from Lisa.

Unlike The Simpson’s house model, these aren’t incredibly expensive. They will be US$4 each, which is a price I can get behind. So buying every figure won't be such a hassle on your wallet. These minifigures are expected to come out in May.

Crummy Gummy releases exclusive figure for SubUrban Vinyl photo
Crummy Gummy releases exclusive figure for SubUrban Vinyl
by Vanessa Cubillo

Crummy Gummy and Manny X will be releasing an exclusive figure for SubUrban Vinyl’s art show this Saturday. The show, titled “Heart Strings,” is a Valentine’s Day themed event and will feature pieces all about love. For this occasion, the gummy bear figure available is a candy pink, glittery bear named Danny LiBido.

I can’t tell you how much I love that name! I would get this figure for the name alone. Crummy Gummy and Manny X picked this name after who they find to be the sexiest man in Hollywood, Danny DeVito.

Danny LiBido will only be available at SubUrban Vinyl’s show this Saturday in Waldwick, NJ. If you can’t make it there in person, you can purchase some of the pieces from their website now. Since this is an exclusive figure, there will only be five original sizes sold at US$40 and three minis sold at US$20.
