Figma Nagato invades Pearl Harbor and your pre-orders

KanColle is...odd. The amalgamation of pretty women and WWII Imperialist Japanese ships has become a hit, and in becoming so, the subject of many pieces of amusement. The next in the line is none other than figma Nagato, whic...

Good Smile Company unveils Summer Wonder Festival exclusives photo
Good Smile Company unveils Summer Wonder Festival exclusives
by Martin Siggers

Is it really almost Wonder Festival time again? Yes, though it might be difficult to believe, the biannual celebration of all things figure is almost upon us, and as ever headliner Good Smile Company has some neat exclusives to announce. Rather than a long drawn out tease like usual though, instead the company has just decided to cut to the chase and reveal everything all at once. Without further ado then, your WonFes exclusives are...

There are also two event-only charms of Wo-Class, plus the announcement of an online exclusive Ninja Slayer figma, although we've got no more details on that one yet.

As ever, GSC will have a limited quantity of exclusives on the floor (500 for the Dekacchu, 2500 for everything else) but those unable to attend will be able to grab any of the six main releases from the Good Smile Online Shop between 27th July and the 4th August. Any readers tempted to crack open your wallets for these?

figma Mizuhara Hazuki lunges into a preview gallery photo
figma Mizuhara Hazuki lunges into a preview gallery
by Scarecroodle

As I've said many times in the past, if there's one thing I have a weakness for it's armored babes. Sure, female warriors are cool on their own, but toss on some metal and it hits a whole new level. A photo gallery has recently cropped up for Max Factory's figma Hazuki Mizuhara (who was mentioned back in February then basically dropped off the radar) from the H-game Toushin Toshi II.

While I know relatively little about the source material (especially since the 3DS game is extremely unlikely to be localized and the 3DS has that annoying region-lock...), Hazuki herself has enough armor to attract my attention (as the character is *at least* wearing a cuirass) despite exposing... well, a goofy amount of skin (something of an industry standard, I suppose).

The overall look is enough to get me to overcome my increasing apathy towards the figma line (it's somewhat weird to think how amazed I was about the line at one point and now most news barely warrants an "eh") despite probably not being a spectacular example of Max Factory's work. Hazuki features a hair joint which is probably a big deal because a few images were devoted to it. Expect pre-orders to open soon.

By Odin's beard, figma Thor verily looks great but is verily too expensive

From the Halls of Asgard to the Fires of Muspelheim, all sing the song of Thor. Thus verily should it come to nobody's surprise that Max Factory's upcoming figma Thor has received additional images. While I like figma Thor, I...

Feast your eyes on this preview of figma Inogashira Gorou photo
Feast your eyes on this preview of figma Inogashira Gorou
by Natalie Kipper

Most figma these days are buxom, doe-eyed girls or hardcore, armor-clad warriors. Inogashira Gorou of Kodoku no Gourmet fits neither of these categories but that isn't stopping this food-loving salaryman from being chosen as a new entry in the figure line. We saw his prototype in recent magazine scans and there is now a full-fledged gallery up on figma blog.

According to the post, Gorou will be available in two different versions, the Standard Serving Size and the Big Serving Size. The Big Serving Size version comes with a table, stool, and a meal of soup and pork stir-fry. Both versions come with his cigarette, a bowl of rice and a pair of chopsticks. The Standard Serving Size version will cost ¥4,500 while the Big Serving Size version will cost ¥5,556. Both will be available for pre-order beginning May 27.

More accessories revealed in this figma Haruka preview photo
More accessories revealed in this figma Haruka preview
by Martin Siggers

We got our first look at figma Haruka in colour a few weeks back courtesy of Hobby Stock. Now the site has updated its preview to include more of his acessories, and they're equal parts charming and bizarre.

We already knew he'd be coming with a plate of his favourite mackerel but now he'll also have the appropriate attire for preparing it, as his rather charming blue apron will be packed in. Also included is the inevitable but still welcome swim cap and goggles head, plus a more aggressive shouting face. The most curious inclusion though is what appear to be water effect parts (complete with their own stands) that allow 'swimming' poses to be created in mid-air. It's an interesting, if slightly unwieldy, idea.

I still feel that the figma as a whole suffers from the inability to hide the joints (particularly that gaping chest one) but it certainly seems Max Factory is putting a lot of thought into what could have been a pretty bare-bones figure. Pre-orders surely can't be far off, and we'll let you know when they go up.
