Due to scheduling difficulties, I wasn't able to get a question post up. My deepest apologies, dearest Tomocast listeners. To make up for it, I brought on a trio of guests that will surely entertain you. To...
Thanks to everyone who participated in our little contest last week! I used random.org to pick out a winner, and this time it was... *drumroll*.... InknPaper! Congratulations!

[update: I've been informed we're giving away one prize - that is, one set of all three collectible tins. The competition is fierce - good luck, everyone! I'll be picking someone at random, to be fair]
A mysterious benefactor has offered to bestow upon us some samples of upcoming Pokémon: The Card Game collectible tins! So, of course, that means it's time to run another giveaway for our lovely readers.
Since they are slated for release this Wednesday, March 6th, let's just say you've got until Friday, March 8th, to drop a comment here naming your number one favorite Pokémon for a chance to win. The prize is an EX Power Tin which includes some rare cards on top of the Black & White booster packs, and a mythical Pokémon Meleotta card (coincides with the current GameStop promotion for the actual Pokémon in your game). Each tin is valued (MSRP) at US$17.99 at release.
Check out the gallery for some images, and remember, just leave a comment here naming your favorite Pocket Monster for a chance to win. I believe we'll actually have one of each of the three new tins (themed for the three legendary Pokémon: Kyurem Black and White ver.s and Keldeo) to give away, so there should be three winners correction: we'll have one winner for the full collection of three tins. Good luck!
Our February contest ended and, after much deliberation, staff have voted on winners! The haiku with the most staff votes was dreamersalice's which went:
I wait months and months Just to gain your plastic smile Oh… you were delayed
I think many of us could relate to that...
Second place haiku with the second most votes was Tomborf's! And since we had so many entrants, I'm going to name three more winners to get smaller prizes I've got lying around, waiting to be shipped out to the loving homes of our readers. Those folks are: Wilda, Martin Mondiel, and Veila. Congratulations to everyone! Please email me (kristina [at] tomopop [dot] com) to claim your prizes. Keep an eye out for our next contest, posting tonight!
Entertainment Earth and Bif Bang Pow! are celebrating Toy Fair 2013 in style, by giving away Toy Fair exclusive versions of the Star Trek Borg Monitor Mate and Doctor Who TARDIS Monitor Mate. All you have to do to enter is head over to Entertainment Earth and fill out a short entry form.
One very lucky winner will receive a copy of both collectibles while nine slightly less lucky runner-ups will receive a copy of either the TARDIS or the Borg Cube Monitor Mate. The contest runs from February 6th to 13th.
Both in honor of our birthday here at Tomopop as well as upcoming Valentine's Day (woo, love all around!) and just "February is awesome in general," and all of that good stuff, I'm giving a couple of things away!
I recently reviewed a few exceptional statues that need some loving homes. Part of the reason is because I'm moving out, so they'd just be sitting in boxes all sad and stuff. The other part of the reason is because I just like giving things away. Thus, refresh yourself on Kotobukiya's Mari Makinami as well as their Princess of the Crystal figures, as they're the ones going.
How do you win? Just leave a comment here in haiku format describing either your time as a reader of Tomopop or your joyful love songs for figures in general in the spirit of V-day. Make sure that you check back here when the contest is over to see if you won, because I won't be chasing people around the whole internet. Everyone is welcome to enter, just note that if you're outside of the U.S. and Canada, you'll have to cover shipping for me.
You've got until February 25, Monday, to leave a haiku/comment here and win one of these beautiful statues! I've got a few other smaller things to giveaway as well, so there will definitely be more than two winners. If any big prizes are added to the pot, I'll update and bump this post.
Sorry for the delay there folks, but I'm back to announce the winners. Be sure to check the contest post to see all the great entries.
For the November Megapixel, the winners are Nan, Ket and Itsa Timmy! Email me at pedro [at] tomopop [dot] com with your info and the prize you'd like in order of desire, just in case there's a conflict. Remember, if you're out of the country, we'll need some help for the shipping.
A big thank you to everybody that entered and Hobby Link Japan for sponsoring the contest. Keep an eye out for our next contest!
For the uninitiated, Zag Toys is the maker of blind-boxed items dubbed "Grab Zags" (you know, instead of "Grab Bags"?). The line consists of everything from superhero figurines to badly deformed superhero figurines (Nog'nz) to mini toy skateboards to, well, they do a lot of stuff. And now they're giving lucky fans who don't mind being subscribed to four separate pages (really? four?) a chance to win a lot of stuff. The grand prize winner gets SIXTY bags (ten each of: Ultimate Spiderman Grab Zags Minis, Marvel Universe Grab Zags, Marvel Avengers Grab Zags, Marvel Nitro Mites, Assorted Nitro Mites, and Marvel Nog'nz). Another five runner-ups will each score five blind bags of their choice.
The contest runs until December 20th. So far I'm guessing that around 238 people have entered, since that's the lowest number of likes on any of the pages. While the prizes are actually okay, I don't like Zag Toys enough to like the company four separate times. For those not bothered by this little detail, feel free to enter and rub it in our faces if you win something.
Whoa, it's November already. Time flies when you're having fun and trying to budget out figure releases! Now that it's November, you have the best eating holiday of the year to look forward to as well as the biggest shopping day right after. Considering the turkey coma that I normally enter after Thanksgiving, I'm surprised that anybody is able to wake up several hours before dawn to get in line.
As usual, the contest is open to everybody, but we'll need some help with the shipping fees if you live outside the U.S. or Canada. The contest is open until November 30th. I can't wait to see what you guys have got for us!
[FINAL UPDATE: You've guys got until tomorrow. Get those entries in!]
Thanks to all you awesome people who entered our Halloween-themed Megapixel contest last month! If you haven't, check out that comment thread to see all the pictures that made it in.
The main winners this month are: Wilda, Killxradio, Mike Hutner and Yomz! Congratulations to the four of you! I'm also going to prize Nice Boat and Deathscythe0812, so all six of you, please send me an email with your username and your prize preferences! The latter two: you can choose from Pocket God Pygmies or Peanuts Formation Arts. Or one of each - that's cool, too.
I can be reached at kristina (at) tomopop (dot) com! I'll just need your mailing information aside from your prizing preferences. Please make sure you list all four prizes in order of preference in case there are choice conflicts, and I'll do my best to make sure everyone's happy with what they get.
Thanks again to everyone who entered, and make sure you keep entering future contests (including our Pocket God contest which is still open).
I mean, some serious help. You see, Funko sent me this big, huge box full of adorable blind boxed Pygmies (see my preview here), and I need to find new homes for them! I got so many of them that I'm even enlisting the help of the Destructoid Community Team to give some of them away.
So how could you get your hands on these cuties? Easy. Keep an eye on our Twitter feed for random giveaways, and for an additional chance to win leave a comment on this post with your favorite Pygmy design here. If you're outside of the US and Canada, I'll need some help with the shipping, but otherwise: that's all there is to it! See the gallery image for the designs and odds. This comment-to-win contest deadline is going to be Friday, Nov. 9 (more than one week!) and winners will be chosen via random.org. Please make sure you look back here on the following Monday to see if you won.
We'll be giving these figures away in ones, twos, threes via Twitter, and a full tray here on this comment thread. Good luck!
Yay, October! It's the month for harvesting delicious pumpkins, savoring the best beer of the year, eating pie, and getting costumes ready for all kinds of fun and mischief. Well, that's if you're into that kind of thing.
This month, submit your spookiest figure-centric images in the comments section below for a chance at various cool prizes sponsored by HobbyLink Japan: Kotobukiya's Fine Art Statue Captain America, Max Factory's Meiko Honma, Bandai's Chibi-Arts C.C. and Premium Sega Prize Mari Illustrious Makinami. All four of them look awesome, so make sure you bring your A-game this month! As usual, everyone is welcome to join, but I'll need some help with shipping fees if you live outside of the U.S. and Canada. Once I receive the prizes, I'll take pictures of them to feature on the front page.
As for last month's contest, the winners are: Orannis and Invincible! Both of you, please email me (kristina [at] tomopop [dot] com) with your prize preferences and street addresses. I'm also picking a runner-up entry for some trading figures: Anime0Milk! Shoot me an email to claim your prize.
Great job with last month's contest, and good luck with this month's! Your due date is Monday, Oct. 29, so you've got three weeks a week and a half from today to enter. If you're wondering what happened to the more long-form Megapixel contest, they aren't totally gone -- I'm just going to do it less often since they're so much more work. I think the next one will be in January, so be ready for it!
Now that the Hungry Shark plush contest has ended, it is time to announce the winners! The lucky three were selected via random.org from among the comments with the correct answers. The grand prize winner gets not only Taymai's Great White plush but also Hungry Shark Evolution, the iOS game. The second and third prize winners will be receiving a Great White plush.
So, without further ado, here are the winners! The grand prize winner is Va Du. The second and third place winners are Kelly and Laura Minxy Varley. Please email me at natalie [at] tomopop [dot] com with your mailing information.
Congratulations to the winners and thank you to everyone for participating! If Va Du, Kelly, or Laura Minxy Varley do not contact me by Tuesday, a replacement winner will be chosen. So please get back to me as soon as possible!
UPDATE: Laura Minxy Varley has missed the window for replying so we have drawn a new winner. Congratulations, Ron Gosling! Please get in touch with me within three days to claim your prize.
